It's very difficult to use a high speed tool in reshaping a blade without generating heat which has the possibility of destroying the temper of the steel..
Ya that's something I was worried about.. I tried to keep the heat to a minimum. Just around 15 to 20k rpm. Brushing along the edge rather than pressing down. My fingers are on the blade all the time (safely) so I know when things get too hot. Constant water dips as well.
Pretty steady hand. It came out nice. I'd say you are a brave man.
That's what I do too... except I use a belt sander.

Pretty fine line between foolish and brave here. Had tried on the smaller to make sure I am comfortable first. These are low end spydies so not so much to worry about.I sooooo need a belt sander. And a press drill.
Well, the funny thing is I have a fancy-pants bench sander, but the one I always use is a just a cheap hand held one that I built a stand for so that it sits at 90° - it's brilliant.
