Case large slab side hunter in jigged bone.  It is really a shame Case discontinued this knife.  I like it much more than any of their current FB offerings, though the handle is a tad short for my larger than average hands.

This is a full tang knife that originated before that was a major selling point. I really think Case could make a couple of minor modifications and make a hunting/survival knife out of it that would sell like hotcakes.  To wit:
  • Lengthen the handle a bit to accommodate larger hands
  • Use impervious synthetics like G-10 for the handle slabs
  • Get rid of the fuller; it doesn't serve any actual function here, just adds machining cost
  • Eliminate the swedge; this will make the blade stronger toward the tip, and also save a bit of machining
  • Increase the thickness somewhat
  • Dump the leather sheath and replace with kydex
  • Consider ditching the brass guard in favor of an integral guard

 :dd:  Fantastic knife.  I'm very much liking these style knives.  I appreciate the thinner blades and the lower guard.  Its such a handsome knife and style that was really prominent in times past.  My recent Kinfolks 330 and GEC H30 are within this bloodline of hunters.  I have a Western L66 which is pretty great.  The thinness in blades are what I'm really liking these days.

As to your modification ideas, I do like the ideas tho I am currently loving these style fixed blades so much.  I'm wondering who has a knife similar if not exactly like you mention?
