Yep, mine is a 942.
The 942 is a 940 with black alu handles, does yours also have a black blade?
(Image removed from quote.)Just a quick pix for comparison, full size Griptilian vs 940-2. I think it does depend on your hand size and preference, and agree with Nix on the fuller grip from Griptilian. They are basically very different knives with different design and purpose. With a slimmer stock/profile, 940 series is meant for more agility and slicing cuts, where Grip series are meant for more robustness.Personally, I think I would prefer the 940-2 over the original 940(even though I don't own them) because G10 scales will show less wear and tear, and for my use, G10 scales is sufficiently strong. There is some flex in the body if you compress hard the handles together, but not to the degree of Bugout(which is an ultralight weight knife). I don't think the little flex of the handle really would matter much in use, but if you like to put knife in tortured use(really hard prying, stab and twist with full force, etc), then the rigidity of original 940 might be appealing to you.(Image removed from quote.)Personally, I am extremely picky on the balance of a knife, and have a very strong preference on a knife that is balanced, especially for small-mid size knives. With the G10 handles, the 940-2 is able to achieve what I think is a great balance where the point is just where my index finger usually hold the knife. The end result is a knife that would feel really light in hand, and with the semi light weight of 940-2, it literally felt like air.
Very nice knives! I have enjoyed my 942
I don't think anyone gonna regret the 940 or 942, they are both great choices, very utilitarian with that 'reverse' tanto shape with a long belly.
