Hi Lisa,

I was out of the country this weekend and away from the forum.  I am just now home and getting caught up, and wow!  Can't believe this fantastic turn of events.  I'm so glad this collection is intact and has such an impassioned and detail oriented caretaker.  Well done.

Might be too early still, but has one stood out yet?  Is there one that you are drawn to?  I guess you'd have to have gone thru them all to know

I actually haven't seen them all yet.  A few have stood out and I should have taken photos of them, but this one I did take a photo of.  I'll try to find the other one and take a photo of it.

That I don't know, but I know he was happy to have found this one, a custom Soldier.  It is the one I was looking for and just found!

Congratulations on taking ownership and stewardship of this collection.  I would be remiss in not telling you to have the entire collection appraised and consider adding to your insurance.

Very nice custom work!  Thanks for sharing the pictures.  It seems that Karl often shared pictures of groupings so the individual knives didn't always show off a lot of the detail like this.

Is there a knifemaker mark in it?  Looks like 'Santa Fe' style work.

I wish there was a knifemaker mark on it so that I could commission some more work.

I would try Santa Fe Stoneworks in that case.  I don't know that they do Victorinox knives, but I think it would be worth a call or email.

Anyway...looking forward to more pics!  Are you photo-documenting Karl's whole collection?

Yes, over time I will be.  I haven't started yet because I want to figure out best way to display each one.  Any ideas?

I don't mean to rush you! I think I understand the magnitude of this task!  :hatsoff:

Creativity isn't one of my strengths...I'd probably opt for a black background.  I did like seeing his avatar/profile in the above picture as well as the stitched (felt?) piece.

I only use my keyboard and phone camera because I'm lazy!  I really should use a DSLR and a proper macro lens and studio lighting...but did I mention that I'm lazy?  :dunno:

I love using the camera in my phone, so easy, but on this documentation, I will likely go all out with the DSLR, lighting and some other techniques with a light box. It'll be a while.

I liked Karl's photos on the sandstone - and typically outside in sunshine - Less reliable/repeatable approach I guess.

Don't want to be too insensitive here - But did Karl not have a photo archive? - that you could inherit?
We do have a lot of his pics in the Wiki  - But I guess they were sporadic/on request of enki! .... And his records were mainly written ?

Black background always looks good for a SAK from memory - eg Chako/JB pics - although not for the SwissBuck series   ;)
And I do like the Colowsiss reference in your pics FB .... of course  :)
KK - I quite like yours on the keyboard too   :salute:    :D

:iagree: on the camera in the phone. Just learned last night that the App Store has a Camera 2 and it allows you to control aperture and speed plus a few other things. Cost is dirt cheap! Will be getting it next week if its everything I’v read so far.
