Nice.  Do you have a foam windscreen for the mic on your DVR?

I used my little Samsung camera so no option for a foam windscreen , sorry about the noise but that was how loud it was .

Cheers

and this is what it looks like about 22 hours later .Lost about 2 to 3 feet of sand by the looks of it , but it will come back . Ok sorry everyone back on topic  ::)

Dunc,

I'm so dense that I thought that was regular wind noise in the camera.  My phone handsfree sounds like that even on a day with little wind if I don't have a windscreen on it.  BTW you can tape a small piece of foam over the mic to get rid of some that even if the mic is flush with the front of the DVR - just for future reference with your family videos.

Hey Dunc,

I was trying to find the area in your video on Google Earth.  Is that in Salthouse?  Sheringham?  Morston?

Great pics Dunc, but I gotta admit, every time I see pictures of your nice tools laying down near that beach sand I get the heebie-jeebies. Have you ever dropped one on the beach and gotten sand in between all the blades, in every nook and cranny?

Maybe its just me....I got this thing about sand:P

Yeh I have dropped them on a couple of occasions and the sound of sand in the joints makes me cringe too . But I do have access to an airline /compresser at work and the boatshed and they blow out all the crap plus they have a bath when needed . All my tools are very clean and lightly oiled , I have a thing about it , my wife says its a shame I didnt feel that way about the rest of the house  ::) . Another problem is sand thats airborn in the wind , it gets everywhere  :( But you do get used to it . I suppose my Spyderco Atlantic Salt gets the most abuse as I put it in the leg pocket of my drysuit which isnt water proof so it gets everything thrown at it , but it does get washed and dried after each adventure .

Nice machine!

My Sunfire has also looked better... I find the worst offender is other people...

I can't count the number of times I have wanted to try out my Vic Rescue Tool on the car next to me in a parking lot as a result of a new scratch or door ding on my car!

I did a little review over at the Bladeforums.com (here).

My overwhelming dislike for the ruler is fading after a few days of use.

Other than that the tool is pretty cool. Being the size it is it is fairly heavy but I have no real problem carrying it in the front pocket of my elastic-waisted Chef pants. I do like the implements and had a chance to give the pliers and philips driver a fairly thorough workout yesterday while fixing the linkage for our oven doors at work. The pliers are really big-job material so no complaints as far as strength goes. There are some heavy pressure points on the handles due to the outside folding blades but they aren't nearly as bad as on the original Leatherman Tool.

I will give complements to the philips, being situated as it is it performs better than most other multi-srewdrivers that rest against the outside of the handles. Since it rests against the inside of the handle (closer to the centerline of the handles) you don't get the infamous multi-tool wobble that you would get with most other philips drivers.

The can opener works poorly as does the bottle opener. They do work but it is not very ergonomic or as efficient as other models.

As excepted the scissors and the blades are awesome. The plain edge blade came with a very sharp toothy edge that slices extremely well and the V-style serrations on the serrated blade work wonderfully but I am curious to see how well the hold up as the edge dulls. The scissors is big, sharp and cut through thick double-ply cardboard with only a little effort. As far as the one-handed aspect goes it is hit or miss. Opening is no problem for either of the blades but closing is kind of fatiguing over time due to the height of the lock release and length of the tool. It is not the same as the Wave where you can whip out the knife, make the cut and release the lock in one smooth motion. It is more jerky and the lock release does turn your fingers into hamburger if try to use it all day one-handed.

The ruler is useful and the screwdriver tip prys well but I still feel this is a redundant item. I don't want to wait for the FliK; I want my saw now! I do plan on modding to ruler into a saw holder once I head out the Home Depot to pick up some saw blades and a few machine screws so I might have my own fix in store, we'll see.

Overall I love the aesthetics of this tool, it is really quite a step up from the old Multi-Plier 600 series but I feel there is a lot of lost usefulness here that really keeps the tool from it's full potential. With some minor changes (slightly short plier head, slightly longer base implements, saw/file/saw holder in place of ruler and it would be golden) I think this tool would make an excellent platform for other variations but that is up to Gerber.

I do love those icons for the outside tools though, awesome.

Here are some picks compared to the old Wave.

One question; as I understand it this tool came out several months ago but there is no traffic on any forums about it, why not?
