Leatherman Knifeless Fuse with Blast Saw
on: July 26, 2020, 04:09:56 PM
Newbie mod.
Couldn’t find a whole lot of detail on this but it seems like it can be done.

I would like to keep all of the Fuse tools and just remove the lanyard ring and maybe a few washers. Is it possible if so any step by step instructions by any chance?

Are the tools supposed to have washers in between each tool or ok to remove?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

I dunno about instructions. Looks possible though! :)

What I do know:
You'll want some wrenches from loki-mobile to disassemble your Fuse.

I heard you can do it with locking pliers, at the expense of scratching the tool and damaging the screws. :dwts:

The washers stop the other tools coming out when you pull out 1 tool. It's up to you if you can live with all the tools coming out when you only need one.

Good luck :)
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

Loki’s wrenches finally came. Wish I could take pics but I could never figure the darn thing out with my phone.

This mod has been done before so I had a few references. But essentially I moved the scissors to the other side and replaced the space with the saw. I decided to grind the scissors tab down so that I can retract the long screwdriver as the tab was in the way. Ended up removing the fat washer and lanyard ring.

I saw that someone did the same mod but was able to fit in the lanyard ring and switched around the flat screwdriver. But I’m guessing he had to remove all the washers to get the lanyard ring to fit. I decided not to do that. I like how the tools don’t clump and found the lanyard ring useless.

Next few weeks I’ll edc the MT and decide if this is it for edc or switch to a Knipex XS and a Cadet.

A Cadet is technically all I need but it always bothered me to have a knifeless Fuse MT with that wasted space.

Sooooo... the mod worked well. But in reading other folks posts it’s quite possible I should have paid more attention on making sure that I:
One-not turn the pivot post (holds the tools not pliers) with the flat sides. Not sure if I rounded it or not in torquing it tight.

Two-made sure the flat sides of the same pivot were oriented properly upon reassembly.

Not looking forward to disassembling and reassembling the tool just to check.

Anyone know what the flat sides of that post does? I’m talking about the pivots at the bottom of the handles. It holds the stack of tools on each handle.

I believe it serves as a friction ramp for the tools? If so maybe no damage done on those 2 counts above?

Thanks!!!

The flat spot is so that only one side turns, it fits into a keyway on the frame. It won't affect the opening of the tools.

Sure! Give me some time. Crazy busy and my phone for some reason doesn’t do well on posting pics. Thanks for the interest!
