Just another poster, this time showing 93mm Alox models that are currently produced (regular models only, no LEs). I also included Farmer X which is to be released this year (model number is still unknown, that's why XX). Enjoy!

Surely a Bantam X would be enough  :ahhh

... Which makes me wonder why is there no combo tool in 93mm...

Great work!  :tu:

Did you photoshop the picture of the Farmer X, or is there an official one already published?

I “photoshoped“ it since only photos of Farmer X available are those made by members at various shows.  ;)

I didn't want to start a new thread so I thought I would piggy back off NeleDo's awesome post here.  I currently have a Super Tinker and I am looking at getting a Sportsman for weekend carry but I was also thinking about getting a Farmer for fishing.  I fish from shore and I frequently have to break branches that are in the way or to retrieve a miscast lure that gets snagged in a tree.

Seeing that they may come out with a Farmer X (with scissors) has me thinking I should wait for that to come out but I do not have any Alox models and I am curious if you guys think a 4 layer Alox model will be too thick because I may end up carrying for more then fishing if I really like it.  I am probably answering my own question but just wanted to get some feedback so to solidify my decision to wait....because it is hard, lol.

A lot of folk here say that four layers is the maximum they want to carry - Although they usually are talking about Cellidor

Of course the Alox models are longer and thicker (tools) and heavier - although the scales are thinner - The Alox models have a really tough sturdy feel to them - So would be great for the tackle box

Do you need the scissors too? - I for one do and never carry a SAK w/o scissors - I guess cutting lines, bait, opening packets  etc - So an FX would e great for you

I am a little skeptical of the Farmer X arriving - But it has been at a show - So I am sure it must be real!

PS. Please don't be shy about starting a new post - We love new threads
- Probably better in this case as you could have a much more relevant title that would attract appropriate responses eg
What would you recommend as a fishing SAK? - Or .......  Would a Farmer X be good for fishing?

Huntsman, hey thanks.  I am skeptical too because of how it would affect Farmer and Pioneer X sales.  I also don't know if Victorinox did produce it if I could even get one soon because of the demand for a Farmer X.  I may just bite the bullet and get the Farmer for fishing.  I didn't want a cellidor model because I heard that Deet in Mosquito spray can damage the scales.  Whether that is true or not I felt the Alox would be more durable for a fishing environment anyway.  I agree with you about the scissors too, I love them on my Super Tinker.

Thanks for the advice about starting a new thread, I will do that in the future.  I am always hesitant if I am new to a forum because I don't want to be the one to start a redundant thread on a question that may have been asked a hundred times.

I can only give you my own thoughts and they go something like this, 4 layer alox does feel like it should in the hand and I think they all should be that way. But all celidor 4 layers aren't as good as they should. I can rock a huntsman without any problems but not the explorer so I guess my sweetspot is somewhere in between those two.

As for fishing with blood and fishgut I use a fixed blade which makes cleaning much easier but I keep a classic SD with me for cleaning hooks and cutting line

Thanks for the feedback, that helps. I agree about 4 layers as I feel 3 in cellidor is my limit.  I think I could do an Alox 4 layer if they come out with the Farmer X but after some other comments in my other post I am thinking I am either going to go with the Walker or Farmer (probably the Farmer) and not worry about the Farmer X as I already have snips for fishing and could live without scissors for this knife.

Yes please  do not worrry about starting a new thread - It is fine

We know some forums get very knarky if folk start a new thread about a topic that has been discussed before....
They seem to expect you to find some obscure thread from years ago that you have slim to no chance of finding!!!
But here we don't care about that ... In fact we prefer more threads and posts

Other newer people may also benefit from the new thread and discussion.....
You may find some older members may poiint you back at another thread - And that is good too as it helps everyone - And is not a problem

Enjoy your time here and good luck with the fishing and next purchase!   :tu:

Even though it's just a Photoshopped image, I'm really curious about the Farmer X. This is the first place I've heard of it, and everyone seems to be in the know. Where can I find out more (either rumors or official announcements)?

Glad to hear about the farmer x.  I hate having to buy a farmer and a pioneer x to buikd a Ti farmer x right now.

They made a change to the scissors Backspring I noticed a few months ago that I bet was to make it easier to do thicker models.
