Me too!
Day 7: Just holding these old knives makes me happy. Using them, doubly so.

My guess is that he has a Bugnard with the yellow scales which has been slightly pocket worn.

C'mon Frailer, which is it??

It’s my favorite. I feel lucky to be its current owner.

If I ever decide to part with it, Myron, you’ll be the first person I contact.

But I *very* strongly recommend not holding your breath.  ;)

Seeing those old knives is incredible!  I love the pocket worn red ones but the minty looking red ones like G-dizzle and holy dueces are really eye-popping.  And those voyageurs and Frailer's!!!  :o :o :o

Day 7
Strangely another day with no uses.  I switched it up today and carried my BYSAK so I took a glamour shot with this guy who sits on my desk.

That's a very cool pairing.  I see something that represents a creature which is very, very old indeed, and oh look, a Thylacine.  The Thylacine or Tasmanian wolf was last seen in 1933 and is thought to be extinct.

just kidding, you're younger than me.

Good one Alan!  Interestingly that's also my Aussie mate's favourite style of joke.  I got the Thylacine when I was in Melbourne for a visit.

I was just thinking about the Thylacine and remembered a quirky little factoid I'll throw out for our American friends.  At the museum in Canberra (I think it was) they had a stuffed thylacine.  They also had a copy of the Magna Carta that they bought from Ross Perot.

Speaking of old things, I'm carrying this ancient Cadet today.  The blade was broken and the file had been converted into a letter opener when I got it.  As my very first mod project I took it apart, replaced the main blade and opener layer, and put it back together.  It was my first mod so don't look too closely at the peening!

Nice work, Myron - my peening attempts have been hidden by the scales of the 91mm knives. On the 93mm mods, I chickened out and used screw systems!  :hatsoff:

Day 8

:mail: Postie has just arrived with a (very) late birthday present to myself. The awl on my BYSAK (thanks again, Myron!) did the opening duty on the box. It’s a Visconti Homo Sapiens Crystal Dream which I couldn’t resist at the special price a friend in the pen world (Penultimate Dave, in case anyone has seen his reviews, or come across him at pen shows) got for me - I’ve added a year of the rat finial which goes with the Vic Year of the Rat quite nicely. Would have been better if the pen was red too, but seeing as it’s made from basaltic lava from Mount Etna, black it is!

Today I have used the Old Cross Pioneer to open a large package and the mail. Hopefully it will have more tasks this afternoon. Action shot of the Old Cross is below.
Cheers!

Day 08
I needed to fix a shoe today. I had the glue I needed but as usual the glue had sealed itself with a solid plug in the tip of the tube. Fortunately, I could use the awl in the Electrician to poke through the dried glue in the tip of the tube and get what I needed out of it.

Day 8

Your posts are all significantly more manly than mine today!  My five year decided she should paint my fingernails the other day. I used the awl on the ‘70 to break the little foil seal on a new bottle of nail polish remover.  Having two girls has opened up a whole new world to me!

You know you could have just left the polish on your nails. It wears off in about a month. ;)
