:hatsoff:
Sam on the left (taller and tighter curls), Molly on the right (stockier and more wavy hair).  They have the same doggy dad, so brother and sister, but Molly nearly 9 years old and Sam is still less than 2.

Very cute, and wow that's a big age difference... Reminds me of mine with my youngest brother — 17 years(!)

Editing this to add a photo of the lapdog. He genuinely thinks he's a lapdog, and unfortunately it's a bit more difficult writing a dissertation with one hand. He fits better on Julia's lap than mine.

Megan also likes it when the dog's outfit matches hers!

In fact, I just showed her your matching hoodies and at first she thought you'd posted this in response to one of the photos I'd posted in the cabin thread!  :D

I don’t know how many times I looked, then said no before finally purchasing.  Now, I keep looking at other styles for a potential 2nd one.

Man, I love all these dress-alikes. The big guy (who's a foster) has a hand-me-down sweater that we dressed him in, as it got quite cold here the last few weeks. I'm concerned about what would happen if we adopted him and then returned back to Toronto (from the southern US)... I feel like we'd have to get him a winter coat or something (not to mention the fact that he'd be required by law there to wear a muzzle outdoors).

Decided to take them a little further afield to a pleasant wee wood that is nice and secure.  Took Sam all of 2 minutes to find something stinky to roll in.  ::)

He is so cute looking.  There are lots of warm dog jackets, but it would be a shame if he had to always wear a muzzle.

I wouldn't worry about the muzzle if I were you.

The law in Ontario is pretty (pardon the pun) toothless.  Basically if someone has a problem with your dog (assuming that giant marshmallow is not actively threatening anyone), that person has to obtain a DNA sample of your dog (which I doubt you are likely to give them), then that person has to pay for a DNA test (most of which are not conclusive and are easy to argue against) and prove that your dog is one of the banned breeds.  Then they have to lodge a complaint based on that evidence and eventually a city worker will come out and talk to you about your dog.  It's not likely anything will happen at that point unless your dog then takes someone's arm off.

The law was enacted to make it look like the government was doing something, but it was left vague so that dog owners wouldn't really be affected by it.

But yes, he'd definitely need a sweater!   :D

This is actually extremely valuable information. Thank you very much. The only thing I can say is that when my wife and I first met, her mother had a (very small ~40lb) pit bull. When we would take her out in Oakville, ON, Julia always made sure she was wearing her muzzle. I suspect (based on my interactions with some of her mother's neighbours) that one of them told Julia's mom that it was just a blanket requirement for that breed. But I'm actually very happy to hear that that's not the case. That actually enables us to much more seriously consider adopting Kiwi. Here's a photo of Julia's mom's pit bull, Sonia, and her Dachshund, Shura (and me when I had much more hair).

Glad to help.  We had concerns when spending a few years in Ottawa as one of our dogs was a pitbull mix.  If you didn't know that you probably wouldn't pick up on it because he was fluffy, but when someone pointed out that he had some pitbull features (oversized, shocky, square head, short, expressive ears kept at half mast, body that was almost a perfect rectangle etc, it was pretty obvious.

This is a pic of him below.  From some angles the pitbull-ness is pretty obvious, not so much from others.

Of course, we also benefitted from having my Daisy at the same time.  She was a 140 pound (twice Jackson's size) German Shepherd and Rottweiller mix, and so no one concerned themselves with Jackson when Daisy was around.   >:D

Compared to Daisy, our little fluffy pitbull mix was almost dainty!   :ahhh

Yeah, wow, Daisy is enormous!

Here's the little guy reminding us that it's time for a walk. And a Companion on a companion. I can't believe how much the big guy enjoys cuddling... We had a Shiba Inu for 12 years (he lived to 17!), so I guess I just got used to a dog who likes to keep his distance :D The little guy is a bit more cuddly (definitely more cuddly with Julia). But the big guy just constantly wants to be near someone.

Got to love Corgis!

We got our first one in 1984.  My parents had another one after that and my brother has had half a dozen (or more) of them since the 90's.

I'm the black sheep in my family in that I have never had a corgi myself- since leaving home I have had a dogo argentino, a Siberian husky, a shepherd/rotti mix, a shepherd/whippet mix, a pitbull and God Knows What mix and now my teeny terrier/chihuahua, which is a radical departure from the others.  Most were around 70 pounds, except Daisy, who was twice that.

Dash is bit heavy at fifteen pounds.  It's a weird thing to get used to, and I have to worry about things I have never worried about before, like coyotes, owls and eagles.

But Dash fits in a kayak a lot better than a 140 pound shepherd mix, so there's that...

The corgi was actually my sister's but after three years of no contact with her, I think it's safe to say we're holding on to him. Also, I feel I should clarify my previous comment about the Shiba Inu — my cousin had him first, and we got him when he was five because my cousin wasn't able to take care of him anymore. And he spent his last 12 years with us. For me it's kind of like the other direction insofar as now I have to get used to a dog that's about twice the size of the corgi (and thrice the size of the Shiba).

Thanks, he was definitely a handsome little goofball. He had a thing for trying to sleep in positions with his butt above his head. He also loved sleeping in suitcases, laundry baskets, etc. He absolutely loved fish. He also had a thing for walking on the back of couches. Wasn't very food-motivated, and in fact, at times, would simply not eat his meal. He escaped once whilst at Julia's mom's place in Des Moines and some high school girls found him and fed him McDonald's fries before calling the number on his collar. He was the best dog. February 21st will be one year without him. Here's a photo of him with Banzai when we first got Banzai from my sister and he was still a puppy. And a photo of him on his 16th birthday (I think).

That's hard.  It's been seven years (last week) since Daisy took her last car ride.  You never really get past it.

Daisy was this gigantic, terrifying dog but she was really just a big goofball

There used to be an elderly lady that lived across the road from us and she had been out with her friends one day.  She pulled up in front of her house, leaving her door open with three other elderly ladies in the car.

Daisy saw the open car door and ran over, hopped in, sat down and looked at the ladies as if to say "where are we going?"

The three ladies just laughed and thought she was adorable.
