My silver Farmer X, which I used for a small garage project today, and my unnamed one-layer Pioneer mod.  Non-SAK items are my homemade wallet and Spoke 4 pencil.  :)

Love my FX.

I've heard it's not easy being green, but I'll bet your Fx manages.

Moreventure?

I don't think I'm going to be able to make "moreventure" a thing. And that's probably for the best.

Hello there. I recently bought the farmer x model. However, the key chain ring is playing and making noise. The forums say that this is normal. Is it normal for it to move and make noise?
Thanks ✨

I’m not sure I’ve understood correctly, but the key chain ring is just a split ring and is meant to hang loosely. If its rattle is annoying, use the split in the ring to remove it and you won’t have an annoying rattle. If however you mean the part the ring is attached to is loose and rattling, then that is not right - it is held in place by the rivet which holds the tools, liners and alox scales together - they should all be held tight be the rivet to prevent any excess play side-to-side but not so tight as to prevent the tools from snapping into place. Apologies if I’ve misunderstood…..

The rivet on which the ring is attached is moving. Especially when opening awl, the keychain rivet touches the awl back spring. and this is making noise.I did research on the internet. I also asked victorinox. He said it's all normal. I wish this rivet was fixed with screws...

I tried to make a short video but the forum doesn't allow it :(

My first upgrade by the way. I did it with P400 sandpaper. It looks much brighter and more beautiful when viewed from the front when the tools are closed.:D

Nice work!

I have seen the key ring attachments on alox SAKs have a small amount of play, and I agree that this is normal, and shouldn’t impact the functionality of the SAK at all.  I believe they are like this because the keyring attachment is only attached to the SAK at a single rivet (it is not part of the liner), the pin hole in the key ring attachment has to be larger than the pin, and the pin in question canjot be peened to excessive tightness or the tools on that end of the SAK would be very difficult to open.

So I shouldn't see this as a problem. actually I was thinking of sticking it to the liner with a strong adhesive.:D

I would recommend against putting adhesive in it.  For one thing the issue you would be trying to fix isn’t really an problem.  For another, adhesive can have a tendency to stick parts together that should remain free to move.

got a green farmer x to replace the blue, which I think I lost on the subway  ???. I like this deep shade of green more than the bright blue, hard to capture on photos, it will look good as it fades.

Blue may be my favourite colour, but you can't really go wrong with a green.

Has anyone done victorinox keyring removal? It hurts my hand while using the knife. It also looks very cheap :(

Yes - just cut it off, and file it smooth - can be done with hand tools, but a Dremel-style tool makes it a very quick operation.

Here’s one of my PX mods - in this case I cut and smoothed off the part when the knife was disassembled - it uses torx screws and pivots to hold it and the anodised Ti scales together, but I’ve removed the key ring holder on 91mm knives in the past when they were together (no pics of those as they’ve since been sold on) just take care as you go and mask off the alox in case of slips. It’s not as hard as you fear once you get going! Good luck!

looks very good. I will cut it first with pliers. then it will be smoothed with p400 sandpaper. and i will get rid of this disgusting keychain :D It hurts hand. And it makes noise. It also doesn't look good quality. It will be better when the process is finished. And it will look more minimalist. Long live minimalism.😅

Nicely done!   :like: :like: I tend to prefer my alox without the key ring holder too (soldiers, nespresso pioneers, harvesters, technician, etc), but a lot of mine do still have it usually holding a Vic lanyard of a suitable colour!

I wish I could remove the keyrin holder. Awl makes noise when turning it on and off. rather not Awl. Key holder. I would like to paste it but it is dangerous. No problem other than sound.

No action shots, but here's my red FX resting at home after saving another camping trip with its can opener this weekend, after the cheap dedicated manual can opener broke.
