Wow! You have some strange grass growing around over there...

 ??? ???

I wish it would all be grass, but there are plenty of weeds as well   ;)

I had a Farmer X for a few days, but I ended up sending it back. The complete lack of any filing tools proved to be a significant problem for me. Also the lack of a phillips-head screwdriver was annoying. I kept pulling the thing out of my pocket only to realize it didn't have the tool I needed. It's a shame, because it was a nice multi-tool otherwise.

File/metal saw would definitely be nice and really complete it for me.

I just use the can opener for Phillips screws and it tends to work well... Better than the backside T-Phillips which 75% of the time doesn't seem to have enough clearance.

Back-country canoeing for a week and a half, I've been using my Free P4 around camp most evenings. You know what's been my go-to during the day, though?

I mean, this is the Fx thread, so obviously.

It was small enough, attachable enough, and, most importantly, corrosion-resistant enough to be the most reached-for thing I carried. Basically, if I didn't need pliers, this was the tool I used.

Incidentally, that dyneema cord is absolutely insane. It's expensive as all heck, but is it ever strong!

It was great, though the Fx was no help at all when our kludge on the cart gasped its last on the portage out,  and I had to do my Mr. Canoehead impression.

I've had mine since 2013 (must have fallen through a wormhole or something.. maybe two as it has OC scales).  :D
It went under the knife in 2016 to put all the cutting tools at the same end, a layout I prefer.

After months of trying to decipher the heavily encrypted entrance code to this double secret adventure society...
:ahhhI gave up and got one!

I’ll be honest I was not an Alox guy but I’m starting to see the light. The more robust build, the awl and saw (of course) and the fact that I can easily clean the whole knife with rubbing alcohol really checks some boxes for my current needs in the field.

I’m also finding it to be a great companion carry for my trusty Explorer. The FX easily handles all of the down and dirty rough and tough tasks while the Explorer remains clean for light duty, grooming and first aid tasks. I’m really enjoying the FX and I’m very glad to be part of this double secret adventure society- cheers

My son bought me a nice new farmer x for xmas.

Been having fun with it.
The saw is great, cuts wood like butter.
The knife is seriously sharp.
The scissors are perfect
The awl is very useful
The screwdriver has come in very handy.
Have not use the can opener or bottle opener yet.

Only one thing, its silver.
I woukd have loved blue or red, or even green.
But silver is ok.

Great tool.

It also cuts butter like butter, but I wouldn't recommend cutting butter.

Finally joined the club, and also got my first red alox. I am liking how the addition of the saw makes more clearance for the scissor nail nick. I am going to be carrying this for a while to break in and try out.   [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]
