Wave Pinch Point!!!!!!
on: January 05, 2009, 03:29:26 AM
Hey guys, I was using the pliers on my modded New Wave today; I was gripping something tightly and the pliers slipped. Nevertheless, the pinch point gave me a NASTY blood blister. This is the first (and hopefully last) time this happens! Word to the wise: get a Charge!

Wouldn't the same thing have happened with a Charge?
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Well, I suppose you could say that.. But the textured scales would give you a better grip, and would cause less slipping. IMO.. I have had this happen to me twice on a Wave and not once on a Charge..

I've gotten a small blister from that happening with mt Ti. I love the Ti, but I guess very design has it's downsides. :-\

I never understood all these people getting pinched by Waves and Charges when using the pliers. Then a couple of months ago I was using my Charge and choked up on the handles and got the pinch of death. I understood in a hurry.

That's why I use a SURGE!!!  (a real man's tool)  :pok:

I mutilated a finger with Kick pliers a few days back...

I'd be hard pressed to blame any of it on the design of the tool, I suspect I could have achieved a similar level of agony with any pliers in the world.

Is it the pliers themselves that are pinching you guys, or the handles?

I've wondered about that, a similar issue exists with the Surge, regardless of what any manly members might think.

You'd think it'd be something they'd deal with - I know no one really goes "This tool gets an extra point for NOT pinching" but it's a shame to LOSE a point because of it.

I learned early on to keep my hands back on the pliers handles on the Surge and the Wave. There should be something in the owners manual about it because it's easy to do. I still forget on occasion but then I get a painful little reminder that lasts a couple of weeks.

The pinch point.  I have been complaining about this for YEARS on here.  The damn Pinch point.  I love my Wave, but that pinch point has caused me SOOO many blisters over the years.  Definitely a design drawback.
