Lol!  I'm pretty difficult to offend!  You're right, it does look like a giant coronavirus.  Luckily I was paying attention to your president, I shined a bright light on it and now it's dead.  Now where did I put my disinfectant cocktail?

Fun fact - it's called Coronavirus because it looks like the virus is wearing a crown... to some very sleep-deprived scientist.     Corona - Crown
Though it could also mean garland or wreath, and I could see that ... sort of...

Day 4

Today so far I did some proctology on this toy cupcake and extracted a bead from its behind. And for anyone sensing a theme here - yes I have been at home with my two young daughters since early March! It’s a beautiful day here today so I’m planning to open up a nice cold one soon.

That’s interesting! I can’t believe I didn’t know that already considering how much Coronavirus news I’ve been watching the last 3 months! I just learned last week what Covid 19 means:
CoronaVirusInfectious Disease - 2019

Indeed... Coronavirus has been around forever, it causes the common cold for generations.

The "novel" or new Coronavirus strain SARS CoV2 causes the disease called COVID-19.

SARS CoV caused SARS.... but at that time they thought SARS was SARS and that was that

They also thought that World War I was the "Great War".  Then WWII rolled around.. and

Forgive my ignorance ElevenBlade, what’s that attached to your knife?

Here are a couple of bonus pics. They’re a bit more adult this time!

EB has a pocket clip attached to the key ring attachment. It allows the knife to dangle inside your pocket. I tried one for a while but it broke! (Made in China, might have been some owner/operator abuse involved.)

Nice going, guys!  :tu:

Day 4

PX came along walking the dogs

Did some whittling today. My first project ever  :ahhh Did not use the PX for it, but I think I will get a Hiker to supplement my dedicated whittling knives. Could have used a saw while doing that sitting on the porch.
The whittling knives were a gift, so I have to figure them out first. There are like 15 different ones

The finished project. It is a spreader for peanut butter, jelly, and the like. I think it turned out ok.

First use of the day for the PX: Installing new ceiling fixtures. The Spirit had to help out because I needed pliers as well.

Yepp, I use those small clips as well. Love 'em. Makes the knife feel weightless in your pocket.  :tu:

And this, my friend, is what MTo is all about... and especially with challenges, where there are somewhat forced uses and modifications done to make the "chosen" tool work at its best as the "one-and-only" for a month.

Though its only one layer thicker than a Pioneer, I find it much more bulky, yet not big enough to hold steady in the pocket.  So I attached a P-7 clip to the keyring and I hook it inside my pocket.  It makes it much less noticeable in the pocket, and therefore easier to carry.  It does take a few seconds longer to retrieve from my pocket when it's clipped on - but the cost-benefit ratio is in favor of using it... in my estimation.

I'm not 100% sure that's the official branded P7, to be honest.  As Nix says, there are some generic versions.  I may have gone for a mid-priced option, as I am wont to do.  A quick search on Amazon for "P7 clip" gives me several options, the first few of which are in the $4, $16, and $8 range respectively.  Knowing me, as I did meet myself in the bathroom mirror just a short while ago, I probably paid $8.

I'm really enjoying seeing the pics!  Nice job on the spreader SirVic!  I see your whittling book - can anyone recommend any books about the history of the SAK?  I think I've seen some in the background of some pics here.
Ok, so P7 is like a style?  And Vic makes a branded one, correct?

No, Vic makes something quite different called a Multiclip that Ive attached a photo of.

P7 is the model name of the clip made by Tec Accessories.  The design has been copied by other companies.  But like Band-aid and Kleenex... and to a large extent Leatherman itself, the term is both specific to the brand, and generic to a type of product.

ok thanks! I'll take a look. I knew I'd seen that Vic clip, that's what I was thinking of.  Do people not like those as much or are they just more $$?

Edit:  I just looked at the Vic clip, I see it's $3 CAD, so I guess it's not price.  Looks like it attaches to a belt.

It does. Works on sweat pants or workout shorts too though. Mine came with two chains: A shorter one and a larger one that is detachable. I love it! I use it to carry the Spirit and Swisstool or any heavier SAK (Swisschamp for example) unless I use my flexible belt sheath.

The short chain is just long enough that it suspends the tool in the front pockets of most of my pants. Even the Swisstool feels so weightless, that I sometimes forget it‘s there  :tu:

thanks for the info!  I'll have to try some out. I don't mind it just in my pocket - but I can see it being one of those luxuries that you quickly get used to and wonder how you did without it.  Kind of like heated seats or scissors in your Pioneer!

Thanks for the quick review.  I had opted against it without knowing that much about it.  It just seemed to be a two-handed operation, and I assumed the chain length would restrict where you can attach it to your belt.  I didnt know it can attach to the waistband itself, and I'm not sure that I knew it came with two chains.

You can always adjust the chain length by moving the split ring. It is a two handed operation, as you have to hold the SAK in one hand and unclip it from the belt hanger with the other. But the two seconds that it takes me to unclip it, are well worth it considering the increased carry comfort.

It‘s something you gotta try yourself I think
