Day 28
The Mini-Trapper had a busy day cutting boxes, plastic bag, an old wool sock, some velcro and tape.  It needed a serious cleaning afterwards and will probably need a sharpening, too.

Day 28 - Two Buck sets acquired at different periods provide me with 4 good pocket knives that are easy on the eye.

First will be the Canoe and Toothpick combo.
Second is the Trio and the Solo.
Both sets are the same pattern.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

One heck of a day everyone  :hatsoff:.  SO much eye candy.  Those ducks did annihilate those peas.  Love the moose and the modern traditional.  I always believe every knife I get has some story but I never know it since the seller is not usually the owner.  Nice to have great grandads knife Poncho.  The Mini Trapper got a heck of a work out Sos, an old wool sock to boot  :D.  I think this was my favorite day to read and see all the pics.

Dean I sure hope you are looking down and grinning ear to ear.

Another long day.  My Case Mini Trapper is relaxing by the glow of my salt lamp.  Just meditation on another wonderful day.

Powernoodle Day 29

Gerson Co. Boston/France melon tester with synthetic ivory, c. 1950's.  Lads, its very important to test those melons.  While its a good idea to start with a gentle squeeze to make sure they are ripe, I have found that even melons well past their prime are still quite yummy.

Day 29

Can't hardly believe it is 29 already! :ahhh

Opinel No.8 Luxe Chaperon and Laguiole L'ÉCLAIR Arabesuqe.  The Opinel is a blink blink version of the original No 8, mirror polished blade, buttery smooth collar lock and better wood handle.  The Laguiole is probably one of the larger slip joint I have owned, measured at 4.7" handle, it has a stout spring and quite well decorated.

Day 29 of 30

I have today a Case XX with me that I put wood handles on myself and Case even sent me an emblem when I asked them about getting one  :woohoo: I did this semi restoration about 10 or 11 years ago  The blades have been worn and reprofiled different than factory and it originally had bone handles  :ahhh My dad actually has one with the same numbers and it looks nearly new :dd: Mine does not :D but I am very well pleased with how the knife turned out for the shape it was originally  :tu:

People have done shell-handle conversions to these knives to make them solid-handle knives with proper handles, liners, and bolsters. Pop off the hollow handle/bolster combo and liners, put on new liners and bolsters, and some nice handle material, and you can't tell they were cheap shell-handle knives.  Takes a lot of skill, time, and effort, which is why I don't bother.

Or, you could do what I did with my Richards Scout--put electrical tape where the plastic sheet fell off.  It's going for a solid-handle conversion when I get the cash.
