What’s your latest injury?
on: July 22, 2020, 07:08:06 PM
Don’t think we have this one? I fig maybe we’d start something a little out of place, so whether you miss used your sak or checked gravity in the wrong way let’s hear it,,

The other day I had the dog out and he has one of those retractable paracord like leashes and well, I was bending over to take care of his duties and someone walked by, needless to say he took off and the cord was pressed right against my leg and wasn’t locked, OUCH!! he made it about 4ft before I got my leg out and locked the line, unfortunately I don’t have any more skin,,

Just so you know this is how I come up with these ideas, it comes out on that comp behind me! Lol..

Guess we'll see some interesting stories here
Haven't injured myself in a while now, last time worth mentioning must be the second time I broke my nose. Did some MMA sparring and went for a takedown on the other guy which was in the middle of a spinning back kick that landed flush on my face and resulted in a nose that got flat and crooked to the side
Not a pleasant correction afterwards, and it never got back to normal

Yeah, that’s why I started it,

But MMA Err, that’s nasty, I took karate when I was a kid, I joined a specific Dojo because I had a crush on a girl, and once her and I were doing a specific move that our instructor showed and I couldn’t do it because it really meant throwing her and I didn’t want to hurt her, and then the both of them both her and the instructor were like you have to put force into it, so I did but she held on and when she landed she did so with her knee up and my throat landed right on it, I couldn’t breath, the instructor was like oh he’s fine, pats me on the back and stand up, in the mean time my hands are around my throat and I’m like hack hack,, the girls like sir I don’t think he’s good! Took a few min before I fully breath, funny part was after that my Adam’s Apple really started to show!

Nah, it isn't so bad. Any contact sport has it's risks, but all in all MMA is a surprisingly safe sport(as a hobby).

That sounds like a bad landing, ouch!

I’ll put it to you this way, she was adorable, but once she entered that dojo, she freaking changed! We had the kick pads and what not and if you were the one holding them when it was her turn, you were in for a good shock! Heck she was taller then me!

It might be fitting that this is in the "Break" Room.

No good recent injuries here, although I did have to visit the doctor a couple of weeks ago for something that happened at work.  On one of our work sites we have some temporary foot bridges set up over a stream so we can access both sides easily enough while constructing a new bridge for the highway.  Since it is a temporary bridge, the wood used was just regular, unfinished lumber, and I got a good splinter in the edge of my hand.  I spent about 20 minutes in the car with tweezers, a pin and a blade trying to get all of the bits of wood out, but I didn't get it all, and I had to call the doctor and make an appointment for after work.

The good news is, the bit the doctor cut out was pretty minuscule, so it seems I did a pretty good job, the bad news is that I had to report it since it happened at work, and go through all of those idiotic forms over something that I wouldn't think twice about if it happened while hiking.

For more impressive injuries.... well, as pretty well everyone knows, I have 8 screws and a plate in my left foot following a rock climbing accident, and two more screws in my right foot following a snow shoveling accident.  I also have a messed up knee from an accident in high school, a trick right elbow from early attempts at MMA, and a lot of scar tissue and chipped teeth from a lifetime of working the doors at bars and other jobs where physical confrontation is pretty well expected on a daily basis.  :D

Well I did get a splinter in my thumb the other night, that was stupidly painful.

and with my ongoing problems I basically burst my abdomen and a total 17725ml (that about 37 US pints) came out over 10 days or so. Good news is that it's healed and not infected. I'm not going to attach pictures, don't worry
