Alternatives to Leatherman Removable Bit Driver?
on: October 10, 2020, 05:00:01 PM
Hi all, have an ST 300 on hand and was looking at the Removable Bit Driver for it.

Was wondering if anyone has found an alternative to Leatherman's adapter to use standard hex driver bits?

Paying $25+ to Leatherman for this adapter and Leatherman bits is preposterous when hex bits are superior to Leatherman bits.

You could grind down a normal 1/4" bit holder to fit the Leatherman bit driver :tu:
Several members have done it and I'm sure you will find pictures if you search in tje mod squad section :tu:

I think for an st300 compatible kit you’ll get the wee jobbie that fits over the 3D phillips bit that then takes screw driver bits.

The good thing about leatherman bits over hex bits is they are double ended and weight saving. And work remarkably well. I have put a lot of miles on leatherman bits and they last well. Unless you are a ham fisted oaf of course.
My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.

Aah, my bad.
Forgot it was the bit holder that goes over the philips driver

I have seen the custom jobs for adapters for Waves and such and that's brilliant, but Googling for ST 300 solutions showed nothing  :/.

I suppose a major benefit of Leatherman bits is their compact size but it seems to me like they'd work less well than hex bits. I haven't put the ones I have through their paces, but that may be because I don't have an adapter for them   :dunno:

This adapter comes with most Ganzo tools, and a ton of multi-tools from other brands too.
You can even find it sold on its own at some sites.

:iagree: with ReamerPunch. I've seen the bit kit in aliexpress, and many off-brand multi's come with them. Also, if you happen to have a Gerber Tool Kit for the MP 400, 600, 700, 800 series, it will also work.

Just google "ganzo bit kit" and you'll find lots of options for under $3. :tu:
