Your Perfect SAK
on: October 15, 2020, 12:06:34 PM
"You, yes you, Congratulations!
You have been selected as the lucky winner from MTO to design your very own SAK using pre existing designs and layouts from Victorinox and Wenger and also maybe creating new ones"

If this hypothetical scenario were ever to come true what would all of your Dream SAKs be?
What would you love to have on your SAK that is just perfect for your EDC needs or for your profession or just for general outdoor activities?

We all love Victorinox products but almost all of them are nearly perfect for us but never a 100% perfect
Ex. People would love a swisschamp without the fish scaler or the Cybertool L with a magnifying lens and so on...

I would love to see some of your idea of a Perfect SAK  :gimme:
Also if product designers from Victorinox are watching this thread, maybe you could borrow a few ideas

PS: I urge you to submit your designs to Victorinox if you are really serious about this so that no one else claims your special design from here

Being a Dental Student I would love to see a SAK for Dentists
We usually have to carry a large pouch full of different instruments which are highly speSmurfpillsed but certain instruments on there like a spatula(very important for us) file, small blade, small chisel etc. I would love to replace with tools on a SAK. Also all the additional tools are always a bonus

Here is some concept art (Obviously it should have plus scales but I was too lazy to draw them  :D)

Alox compact (essentially 93mm voyageur) would love a cadet x (or just bring back the smurfin voyageur please, pretty please :pok: ), even better if it could have back tools
And sounds self defeating as would lose slimness but option to have alox plus scales with metal tipped tweezers etc to match

How realistic would it be to have a tiny chainsaw in a Vic? Cos, in the words of Beavis and Butt Head, "that would be cool, heh heh!"

As fun as it would be to scare patients with that thing, it is only for lab work

That is the best thing I have heard so far
The only problem I see with Victorinox ever doing that they will most probably lose all sales of their Celidor and Nylon scaled versions

I would love to see a Cadet with  pen knife blade, instead of the nailfile.
Is it possible to have a blade whose sides are like a file?
And of course scissors and mini pliers. That should be fifth pocket friendly.

Another dream is 91 mm Alox, with thin scales like those of the Cadet. A ranger, a Deluxe Tinker and a Craftsman with those scales would be great. And a serrated main blade while we are at it.

And please Victorinox, make something like Leatherman's PS4!

*Phenomenal* sketch! (And very interesting tool set.)

Thank you kind Sir,  :hatsoff:
"Phenomenal" is highly overstating it. I guess I just had a lot of free time during this lockdown
Regarding the tool set though, I spent a few hours looking at the swisschamp XLT and deciding what would be absolutely necessary and trying to arrange it as best I could.
Some minor details like the chisel being too high up to work lower angles and it being paired with the file was one of the factors considered in placement of tools

Sorry I tend to get very wordy sometimes  :o  :twak:

There were prototypes, but Vic retired the tool after the Texas SAK massacre

This thing almost fits the 130mm Delémont frame :)

Or this one:

The perfect SAK for me is the alox Wilderness. Unfortunately it´s way too expensive. I wish they would do a rerun in standard silver.

For this round of questioning... I'll say...

If there was some way to get a small blade on a Pioneer X....

My perfect SAK would be the Pioneer X with tweezers and tooth pick in the scales.

Thanks for this opportunity, Victorinox!

I love the Swisschamp. But, to be honest, I find it a bit of a handful to use and a pocketful to carry.

Thus, I'd like a split SC. A knife plus multitool. I'd like a Camper (my personal favourite 91mm pocket carry) with the rest of the SC's tools in a separate entity you could carry as required in another pocket, pouch or bag. Even better (but not necessary for my own purposes) if it were modular and you could swap out the wood saw for the metal saw or scaler. These tools being more or less the same width, the same pins could be reused. Just a note on the scaler: I find it's a versatile tool, despite my never (yet) using it on a fish.

Can I please have the plus scales on the Camper part? I wouldn't mind the multitool part having regular scales. I know alox scales are a stretch so I'd be plenty happy with nylon ones - in black, if you can. Yellow nylon plus scales on the Camper would be an appreciated touch.

I'd like the large blade to have the serrated edge. Lately I've been so in love with this remarkable blade that, in combination with the small blade, I feel no need for the plain edge.

With kind regards and grateful appreciation,

Sawl Goodman

Oh there's a few...

-An Explorer with a metal file/saw, chisel instead of awl and the file on hook like the Compact

-Explorer with saw in Alox

-Cadet with scissors

-Pioneer X with metal saw

Hopefully some day I'll get some of these ideas together in a custom Ti SAK  :salute:

There already is a small blade on the Pioneer X.  They call it an awl, but it's really a pointy, chisel-ground small blade.

I too would like to see a PS4-sized Swisstool, or even a thin Juice-sized Swisstool.

Also...
  • Climber with engine-turned SS scales, like the old Director
  • Pioneer XP = Pioneer X + Pliers
  • Sea Pioneer X
  • Midshipman X
