G'Day,
111mm, like them? I was not sure, so I tried with a Soldier, then a Trekker, then got a very good deal on a Bosch Outrider. These were a good starting point for me. I found the OH Soldier a lovely daily knife and got used to the part serrated blade. I'm not a big fan of the LM part serrated blades, but this one seems to work really well. The Trekker is a non-serrated version, and probably my most favourite of the three. Then I read about the SOS (Survival Outdoor School) knife and that one really peaked my interest. Surprisingly I found one available on Oz, from another inmate and a deal was done. That is also a very nice knife, but I packed it away as it seems to be slightly rarer, especially here in Oz.
Well, I browsed our local Gumtree site and found a Mariner in excellent condition. What I liked about this one is a fully serrated blade. And not to mention the orange OEM shoelace!!! It arrived yesterday. It got a good wash, and blow-dry then it was off to the styling and sharpening department. I have a triangular ceramic stone which took just over 20 min to get a razor edge on it, then a few strokes on the kangaroo strop and it is fantastically sharp!!! I really like the VicNox serrated blades, they seem to cut extremely well. This one will take a few trips to work and help with food prep.
I am starting to like them a lot!!!
Some pics and a claim for a badge.
