Had a scare yesterday.
on: December 09, 2020, 04:51:35 PM
I had a very busy weekend starting on Friday.  I decided to carry my waved Delica during that time.  It was used and pocketed often over those 3 days.  Each day I changed pants so the knife was moved to each clean pair.  On Monday I did laundry not thinking about my knife again.  On Tuesday as I got ready for work I wanted to carry my Delica again.    Where did I put it?  I keep the items I carry often in plain sight on a shelf.  No bother I had to go so I pocketed my Native.  When I got back home I did a cursory look about for it and came up empty.  Later that night a little panic set in as I could not recall taking it out of my pocket on Sunday or seeing it Monday.

Tuesday night before retiring to bed I had a nagging thought it very well could have been dislodged from my pocket and dropped on a site I was working at .  Ok lets dial it back and go thru the steps on Sunday when I changed from my work clothes.

Nothing!  I couldn't recall my steps.  I looked in the washing machine and in the hamper.  I looked in all the usual spots but I am pretty darn good at keeping my items in their place.  Why then is it NOT there  :ahhh

I went to bed last night a little unsettled.  It a favorite knife I got in trade from a member which also makes it a bit special.  Dang it where are you?????

This morning with the knife still very fresh on my mind I decided to have coffee before an all out search would proceed.
I retraced my steps coming up short.  I looked in the washing machine again with no luck.  I looked under things and on top of things to no avail.  Real panic set in  :ahhh

As I got dressed for the day I went to where I keep my fixed blades.  I carry one at home all the time.  Guess who was amongst the fixed blades  .  I was so happy to see my Delica but how did you get there?

Well clearly I put it there.  I carry a fixed blade when working as well.  I obviously took off my fixed blade and Delica and placed both in that area.  I mentioned I had a busy weekend right?  Guess I was so tired I was not paying attention.

Glad it was not lost.  Guess what I'll be carrying today?

When I was a young man One morning I got up and got washed and dressed for work picked up my work boots and carried them down stairs where I made a cup of tea and had a cigarette.

When it was time to go I could only  find the one boot, They were the only steel toes I owned and I would not be allowed on site without them.
After looking everywhere several times I rang my boss to say I would be late.  He was not impressed and said if I was not in within the hour not to bother coming in that day. So again I looked everywhere in a state of panic. After another half an hour of fruitless searching I gave up resigned to the fact my boot would never be found and even if it was it would be too late. So stop looking to make another cup of tea. I went to get the milk out of the fridge where I found my boot where the milk is normally kept.

So after making my first cup I must have put my boot in the fridge instead of the milk.
My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.

:D  That'll be a story I'll share for years to come.

Thanks for sharing.  I normally am very particular as to where I place things I used daily.  My keys go a certain place as do my other pocket items.  I'm not fanatical but they all have a place.  Guess my Delica wanted a little mingle Sunday night

Back in the day the Mrs made me my lunch the night before and stuck it in the fridge so she didn’t have to get up because she’d be up throughout the night with the baby, so I get up to go to work and I can’t find my keys! Now I have two vans yet both keys are on one keychain, (yeah kinda dumb) but I look everywhere, next thing you know the Mrs comes downstairs asking what’s wrong, “I can’t find my keys” so she starts walking around looking through everything with me, and we just can’t find them, so I end up having to call off from work because I have no way to get into work? So the Mrs then says just sit down I’ll make you a breakfast sandwich and we’ll think it through, so I sit at the kitchen table waiting as something catches my attn in the radiator, something shiny, so I go over and pull the front panel off and sure enough, it’s my keys, the Mrs is like what did you find? So I show her and she’s like ah huh, those little furballs, I’ll bet you that’s how they got in there! At the time we had ferrets, and they kinda notice things that are important to you and hide them, needless to say they hid my keys in the freaking radiator! But I did get a day off and a nice breakfast egg and bacon sandwich!

I gave up on my wingman a while ago.
Had no idea where it could be.

I figured it fell out of my pocket and gave it up as lost.
then one day, I had to adjust my scroll saw, as I have done several times over the years, and lo and behold.....my wingman.
I had apparently used it and left it on the bench behind the scrollsaw.

Thank you.  It was nice carrying it today.  While I have been carrying traditional folders more and more I like to carry a more modern folder for work.  This one in particular is nice, as I pull it from my pocket the wave feature aids in deploying the blade.  Its a slick feature and one that I am not too bad at even when removing my knife slowly.

Glad you ended up finding it Aloha.
I lost my Kolt knife at work probably a couple of months ago now.
Turns out it was found and given to someone who put it in a toolbox and from there it disappeared.
I didn’t know I had lost it at that stage as I was using a new Manix2 at work as well.
Most disappointing part was that someone would take it without asking around to see whose it was.
Pretty sure they won’t be able to sharpen the convex blade properly.

Glad you were able to find it. I've had scares more than once, only to find it in a place I didn't expect to look. Once, I found two knives I'd been missing for about a year in a box of diecast cars in my closet. Guess it ended up there when I was cutting the tape I used to secure the paper I wrapped them in.

Two things I've learned.

Small knives are really easy to lose, especially in pants with loose pockets. I lost two knives due to the same pair of Reebok shorts. I've got to the point that when I wear those shorts, I make a point to choose a knife with a very tight pocket clip.

Secondly, get brightly colored handles if available (as long as that color is NOT pink!). I recently picked up a Spyderco Roadie, and chose orange. Just this morning, it fell out of my pocket at the mailbox; and it was really easy to spot and put back in.   I have bright blues, plain yellow, lime/safety yellow, and orange. I like orange among those color options best. If you can't get bright handles, bright paracord lanyards help. Heck, even my phone has an orange lanyard off an old off-brand Nintendo Wii controller on it.
