Day 25

Little guy's radio remote control car needs new battery, so I get a chance to tried out both the nail file and can opener as an impromptu phillips, turns out the can opener does a better job than the nail file in this case, but I could foresee the nail file excel at smaller phillips screw.

Glad to hear he is getting out and having some fun.   :tu:
 I feel kinda sorry for him and his generation of kids, so many are stuck at home when they should be out learning about the world.

This one is the VW beetle of the vacs. It runs and runs and runs sucks and sucks and then it sucks even more. Until you need to remove some crap from it inner workings and/or it's time for a trip to Mr. Garbage. Again and again fascinating what you'll find while emptying.
Sounds like it suck, I mean it's good at sucking.  Errr...you know what I mean.  :D

Day 24

Today the S52 blade and saw carved a pumpkin for front porch decoration. The tweezers removed a thorn from my hand (goose hunting injury  :dunno:)
Good job! :like:

This is 100% your fault Michael.  :D
I foresee beans will be on many participants' menu in upcoming Gas Station MRE challenge...

I have a robo-vac. As of right now, it won't take a charge, and I've been unable to conclusively determine why. It has a habit of getting hung up on the edges of rugs, and sometimes struggles to get itself out of tight spots. Human intervention is required to get it out of those jams. In my opinion, it's not a "set and forget" sort of deal. (I call it Clyde. Why? It only makes right turns!)
What the...is that pepperoni/salami jerky?

Day 24

Raining here, and my new roof will inevitably be delayed again:poh:  I'm wanting a beer quite badly, but as I don't have any (and the Evo didn't see any use today), a shot showing the cap lifter will have to do.
Clyde!

Day 25.

'75 Wenger SI once again.  Shown with the OTHER greatest spread for your toast.   :D
Never tried vegemite, but I love marmalade!  It's so versatile as a spread and great for making dessert! :like:

Day 25

On the theme of other tools, used the awl on my Evo23 to release a 100mm Knipex plier wrench - I already have the 125mm versions of the cobra and pliers wrench, but this completes the 100mm pocket tool set up with a Bahco adjustable 100mm and the Evo23.

Gonna look this up, bet this is just as nice as the Cobra XS. :tu:

DAY 25:

The day after the booster.

Good luck to you, sir.  I felt a little sickly on and off for 48 hours, but no fever and never wanted to get horizontal (at least no more than I usually do).  But well worth it IMO.  Each to his own on that one.

Day 25:

A cold and rainy day. Adventure Boy and I got caught in a little squall while out for a short walk. A warm and warming lunch seemed in order, so I made another grilled (toasted) cheese sammie. I thought a bit of chili-garlic paste would put some color back in my face, but the stuff had one of those impenetrable safety seals under the lid.

No match for the Vic-style awl:

Made the sandwich with some fresh bread that I baked yesterday (previous grilled cheese was made with my version of Komißbrot--German Army bread), ham, aged cheddar, and good smear of chili-garlic paste. No pickles this time; apologies to awl you pickle fans.

This sammie turned out to be waaaay better than I expected, despite the lack of pickles.   :2tu:

Sounds very tasty indeed and just the thing for thawing out on a wet and windy day.

Wow, is that a new model?  I hadn't seen a 4 inch plierwrench before.

Yes, they came out a few months ago but have been hard to find in the UK at least.

Comis, they’re much more expensive than the cobra xs sadly, but for draining down central heating systems they allow you to get into tighter spaces than the 125mm versions, my previous go-to tool.  :tu:

Day 25:

I have been making good use of the awl, and have to say I quite like it's functionality.  It is one of the original 4 basic tools of the 1890s Swiss Soldiers knife that consisted of a blade, screwdriver, can opener, and awl.  Swiss Army wanted to supply their soldiers an all in one folding knife with a screwdriver to be able to take down the latest new rifle, can opener for the field as the rations came in cans, and an awl for the leather gear used on the horses.  I like the way Victorinox evolved the awl into a very functional wood drill bit for punching holes in wood, and I am sure many other materials.  It looks pretty cool too, like the head of a hawk, with the longish nail nick looking like the eyes.

25/30

A most busy 11 hour day at work. Used the Swiss Sportsman several times, just didn't get any action shots.

Day 25 (bonus chicken shots):

Yeah, we had wings...but...it ain't a challenge without a chicken.

I decided to split this chicken and grill the two halves. No good reason, but since the Rangergrip has a longer blade that is fairly sturdy, I thought I could split the sternum fairly easily. So, backbone out, ribs out, and then split up the front, neat as you like.

Seasoned and grilled up. Mrs Nix is still away, so I'll have leftovers for a couple of days. Which is a small consolation....

I really like that LL Bean knife. I've got a weakness for Bean branded stuff. And, it's a Sportsman!  :like:

Day 26
October 26

Multitool Madness! I wanted to try out the scissors while I was sewing buttons on my kid’s uniform.  I was using a double-strand to sew the button and needed a pair of scissors to snip the thread as I finished up each one.

The Wenger’s tip needed a couple of snips to cut the 2 strands. The LM’s tip kinda ate up the thread so I had to move 1 to 1.5mm lower to have it cut. The 58mm made it on the first try. On the next set, moving the thread 2mm lower from the tip enabled the Wenger and LM to cut 2 strands in 1 snip.
