Knives of the world..........
on:
December 15, 2020, 04:37:39 PM
Thought I would try something a little bit different today. The idea started when I was researching a knife I have owned for many years but could never identify.I had thought it might be of French origin but found that it was actually made in Mexico;which was strange because it had none of the characteristics I usually associate with Mexican knives.
Anyway I got to thinking(or as my wife would say:"working without equipment!")and wondered how many countries I had represented in my accumulation of 60-plus years. And so here are some of the countries that have contributed.I'm sure I've missed a few but I will try and add as I find them. Hope you enjoy this and be forewarned that it might take awhile for me to post them all.
#1 A pair of African daggers. Not sure exactly which African country they are from but whomever owned them must have had very small hands as the handles are less than 3 inches(76mm)long.
#2 A jambiya from the Oman province of Syria circa 17th century.
#3 A "penny" knife by A.B.Newman of Austria.
#4 A fancy barrel knife from Sweden By A.Halling.
