Need to pick your brain for a min take a look

Well just like the subject says I was wondering if you guys can look at something and give it a thought? Somebody found something and I’ve been going nuts trying to figure out what it is because I think it is way cool, I think it would be a cool like edc or pendent of some sort, but I just can’t figure out what it is? The closest thing I can figure is a old radiator valve, but the directions would be wrong,, who knows it might not even be plumbing related? It just looks like it goes on a valve? I’m just curious? Any ideas?

Old radiator valve handle would be my guess as well.  Seems on the small side, though... :think:

Given the square drive in the centre and the milling on the edge and the inscription I'd be pretty sure it is an actual control knob for something related to heating ( or cooling ? ). 

The reverse direction of rotation might hint at something that is primarily for cooling (although I'd expect to see "Warmer" rather than "Hotter" if that was the case), or maybe it is just for a heating valve that operates in the opposite direction to most.

It's probably from a water heater. It controls the flow of water. More water, cooler, less water, hotter.

Right, it’s got a knurled grip on the sides unlike that radiator valve, and having the square it should mean it itself is meant to turn something, the hotter vs warmer idk, I’m just kinda a freak with things with a knurled grip, plus I’m kinda guessing this lands in my field of plumbing, and I kinda like coins, so a three for three, but I have no clue :dunno:

This wouldn’t happen to be the knob on the back of a gas fired iron? Anyone know how they work were they adjustable?
