Rambler helped with unboxing a package from Container Store.

Best kept open secret for any knife enthusiasts from Container Store--the letter organizer is perfect for most multitool/knives/2-3 layers 91mm SAKs, and the lipstick organizer are great for organizing the 2-3 layers or sub 91mm SAKs.

Wow, I like that...
Those are some good ideas.

Away for a few days in the mountains. On the road most of the day, just started a fire as it’s quite cold.  :salute:

Hmm,, I like it!

DAY 26

Esquire helped open breakfast. Scrapple and eggs was the plan,,,,, riiiggghhhttt up to the point that I realized we had no eggs. Then it turned into scrapple on English muffins with apple butter.

I love some good scrapple.  Haven't had any sense we last vacationed in Pennsylvania, 4 or 5 years ago though.

Getting in on the tea discussion, I'm strictly a sweet iced tea kinda guy.

Another challenge chicken nicely done!

I usually would crack open a young coconut with whatever tool I have for the challenge, but after managing to open one with a Classic in Minimal Challenge back in 2020, the Classic did develop some play after a pretty abusive use/challenge.  So I just gonna excuse myself from doing another coconut with 58mm this time.

Unfortunately, I’m not surprised that the Classic suffered from opening the coconut.  Opening a coconut is asking a lot of even a 91mm SAK.

Day 26. Been helping out stewarding at a local am dram outdoor event for families in a park nearby. MiniChamp helped cut the string we hung the event banner from, sort out prize packages and was generally useful. We were lucky with the weather. The umbrella became Mary Poppins prop.
It is nice when the weather cooperates.

Day 26:

A few tasks in the yard to do today. I slipped the Gerber MP400 into my pocket....just in case.

First up, replacing an in-ground sprinkler head. This requires both a thin flat driver and a small Phillips. The tip of the Esquire filled in for the small Phillips, but the MP400 was needed to adjust the flat head.

After that, I put up a hose rack to keep the garden hose a bit better organized.

This required some decent torque and a Phillips driver. The Esquire...watched...while the MP400 got the job done.

During this challenge, the Esquire has come up short a few times. I started this challenge with a high opinion of the small SAKs. Now...I'm thinking more about the specific role they will play for me in the future.

HOME AT LAST!

Been gone from Texas from the 5th of June to the night before last. Two day drive home and soooooo glad to be here! Not that I didn't enjoy seeing daughter, and granddaughter, and son in law, and having fun on California beaches, and hiking in the Cleveland wilderness area, and eating great food. BUT...its so good to be back in our little Texas home, in our own bed, in our own bathroom, in our own home.

While on our cross country odyssey, the itty bitty teeny tiny classic did 99% of what I needed. I lost count of how many snack packages it opened, cold brewskis opened with the SD tip, little things that needed fixing around Jessica's home, (Son-in-law is no Harry Homeower) and felt with a a lot of Philips screws. Fingernails got trimmed and filed, a cactus thorn pulled from 12 year old granddaughters shin, and soooo much more. The little SAK's are like an extension of the fingernail or finger. Soooo many things dome with so little a tool.

BUT, for food use, they are still a fail. But Jessica has some very nice Victorinox kitchen cutlery from myself and her kitchen was well equipped.

Now, back in Georgetown Texas, the teeniest SAK is still opening the three weeks of mail waiting.
Don't get too serious, just enough will do.

Day 26

The Mini Champ took care of the mail this afternoon.

I used the large blade on my Swiss Champ to cut a muffin in half earlier. Not wanting to dredge up the MuffIncident from earlier, I deferred to the Swiss Champ.

Not much use, but I did discover that the end part of the scale on the alox Classic works good for lifting the tab on a can of beer.

I don't know if this will help or not,, or whether or not it is the correct way,,, but it worked for me. Also,,, I don't know what Tapatalk is,, so this may not work at all in your case.

Hopefully it helps someone

Well the pocket rockets just failed in my modding of Boker Tech Tool 1, I got a copper scaled one before this and whilst sleep deprived (I should go to bed...) I decided hey, smurf you glass breaker, let's do this!

Now I had tried to just wrench it out of my 4 layer techtool and only succeeded in marring it to the moon and back, but this time we were smarter and used a toolset that is pretty much non existent in the challenge

-Driver with T6 bits to disassemble

-needle file to fil flat the peened section of the glass breaker

-Rebar pliers to then wrench the thing free, like the wrenching I attempted previously but this time smarter, with more force and less regard for my knees

-Pliers in the other tech tool to manipulate the posts into orientation (D-shaped)

-Combo tool from my Compact to wrench the damn thing back together

And now I have a lovely, glass breaker free copper tech tool and suffered through and escaped the unique circle of hell that is slipjoint reassembly and my pocket rockets just looked on, eagerly awaiting for me to slip and eviscerate myself on the open and in play blade of the tech tool  :drink:

Day 27

Back from the early morning cycle ride (seemed like a headwind all the way round…) I was greeted by cross looking bunch of squirrels complaining that there were no peanuts in their feeder, so I grabbed my stainless scaled Wenger esquire and opened another sack of peanuts for them. Time to put myself on the correct side of a full English and a cappuccino……

Day 26

As the challenge goes on I'm thankful for the rotation I'm afforded between the different 58mm and 74mms I own, however I very much find myself missing other tools, bigger tools... just more tools. Whilst the pocket rockets could get a lot of tasks done, they're sometimes short enough that it's a little awkward or frail enough that I don't particularly want to use them.

I guess I'm just looking forward to the day when I can go back to supplementing more full carries with my pocket rockets rather than relying on them entirely.  :dunno:

Oh and I miss one hand opening, only having a two hander all the time is ajust a pain...

Today's carry complete with bonus shot of the aforementioned modding:
