What is on the Zippo's bottom stamp? As an aside, we're pretty close in age.

It is at home right now but I will get a pic if it later

I will be 42 this year :hatsoff:

I guess I could always run one solo, or.. or... actually carry whatever tool I want for the first time since October!

I think I will be taking a break in March.
I may need a break after the Soldier On! challenge myself.

I will be 42 this year :hatsoff:
I'll turn 44 this year.

Great pics today all :woohoo: :like: :like:

That's one lovely combo, and  your Zippo is a great looking January 1998 example! :tu:

There are a couple of SAK Challenges starting in March to go along with the Soldier On Challenge.

Except for June or July, I have been in a challenge every month since May, including 2 this month. I think I will be taking a break in March.

I don't know if I'll enter another SAK challenge.  I dropped out of the last one I entered because it was too frustrating to be stuck with a mediocre tool (compared to a Leatherman).  I like most of my SAKs, and they have their place - but that place isn't in my pocket for 30 days straight.

Day 27

I used my Mini a lot today... opening packages, breaking down boxes, adjusting some sprinklers, assembling some fairy lights, and replacing some switch covers.  I also cleaned it up for tomorrow's final pic  :tu:

DAY 28

February 28

The February MiniTool Challenge has proved to be a real challenge- it was a balancing act between actually using the tool, being careful not to break the tool, and being able to show what this tool was all about. I’m very very thankful to Fireman for sponsoring my entry into this challenge.  I’d never thought I’d own a tool of significance in Leatherman’s history.

I’ve said it more than once - the MiniTool is a part of LM history and I personally doubt that a similar one will ever be made. They might do a commemorative or reissue like the PST, but I have doubts if they’ll have a MiniTool ver 2.

With that said, what can I say about the Mini?  Well, first thing I noticed is that IT IS HEAVY. No, not Surge heavy, but it’s interesting something this small can weigh that much (4oz according to LM’s site). At 4oz, you get a good pair of needle nose pliers, a small PE blade and a file/flat driver, can and bottle openers. At around 5oz, the Skeletool offers a slightly different load out. Same goes for the Rev, but with terrible handle splay.

As much as I want to make the Mini a shelf queen due to its rarity, it has somehow found a way to be used around simple tasks at home, especially jobs where using something like a Wingman would look like overkill.

The Mini is a good secondary tool, but due to how rare it is, I won’t dare make it a primary.

Pics on some mix and match kits featuring the Mini:

Day 28

I have to say that it was a pleasure carrying the MiniTool this month. No hard use for me but it did it's job for what I needed it for. The pliers got the most use and worked great.

Thanks everyone for making it a fun challenge  :tu:

Day 28

This was definitely a fun and unique challenge. Thank you to Poncho for organizing it and to everyone who participated!  :tu:

So this is probably sacrilege to Leatherman fans, but overall I am not a huge fan of the Mini.  I love the idea, the unique design, and the great craftsmanship, but it isn't very practical to use.  I absolutely love the Mini for my collection, but this is probably the last time I will use it    If I change my mind, I'll probably do the "Steve mod" and swap the blade with a Philips driver, then carry the Mini with pocket knife.  :tu:

Hello day 28.
Some great pics from the team all month.
Mine will go back to the shelf now as they are in v good condition and do not to spoil them. It is a neat tool though so may have to find a user.
Thanks for the challenge guys.

(Image removed from quote.)

I mostly carry mine when I think that I might not need a tool but want to have something just in case  I always normally pair it with either a SAK or a Charge knife :tu:

It is a very great weekend or oit on the town kind of carry  paired with a Vic Executive you have a very light but super capable carry in a very tiny footprint  :woohoo:
