From Leatherman's website:
"The Leatherman Garage is driven by the same sense of discovery that inspires Leatherman users. It’s raw, “Do It Yourself,” and break-it-until-you-make-it. The Garage puts innovation first, pushing the limits of design, engineering, and even ourselves.

While there are no bad ideas in the Garage, only the most ingenious will ever see the outside world. Through constant iteration, we learn what works, what doesn’t, and use that to inform future designs. It doesn’t happen overnight, but the end product is worth the effort.

Sometimes, you don’t know what you need until you need it. By developing ingenious solutions to unexpected problems, the Garage helps consumers in surprising and indispensable ways. Their challenges become our own, and when we overcome them, we overcome them together."

It sounds to me like the purpose of Leatherman Garage is R&D, not custom multitool work. By which I mean that any multitools that come out of the process are prototypes from the development process, not flashy limited editions. I see a lot of worrying about small batches of tools being bought up on the day of release, but consider this: would you WANT a prototype multitool that's still in the design phase?
Current SAKs: Explorer, SwissChamp, Handyman (modded), Climber, Super Tinker, Tinker, Woodsman (modded), Electrician, Pioneer, SwissTool, Executive, Ambassador, Champion Plus

That's the kind of thing that collectors seek, aren't some of the more collectible coins the ones with something wrong?

Ok, let me start making guesses.  The number on tool starts with "BO", so I'm guessing it will be a black oxide tool.  The tool looks a little like a Free T2 or T4, so maybe it's a modified version of one of those.  Since the Free line is relatively new, and none have been available in BO yet, that's my guess.

I've been incredibly critical of Leatherman recently..but this seems like a definite step in the right direction...I'll go further and say its basically THE DIRECTION they should be going.

If leatherman carries and updates a compact linup of tools for the general public..with short limted runs of products like this...its a recipe for success.

Guess Canadians will not be able to play. Looks like the garage is a non entity on their Canadian portal.
A little Leatherman information.

I ordered one too. Interesting design and probably not worth the money but I do collect these things. I’m glad they put a limit of two on them.

I love the Free lineup, and the tool selection for the Mr Crunch looks great... I would have purchased this tool even if it wasn't a limited release item.  The only downside I see is that I will be hesitant to actually use a limited release tool,
