You know that Tim Leatherman is on eBay driving the price up, and cackling like a hyena while Mrs. Leatherman showers him with $100 bills.

So you kissed, but it smelled bad, so you threw it out the window.  :pok:

You nailed it. I'm totally into the kiss-n-sniff thing.   :salute:

Just secured one! They keep adding a couple from orders that they canceled due to ordering multiples.

Well, thanks to you and after deciding against the Mr. Crunch early on, I ordered two that magically reappeared online.

I have no quarrel with anyone who resells on eBay, since - once purchased - the MT belongs to him to do with as he pleases - use it, collect it, smell it, kiss it, throw it out the window or sell it on eBay at market value.

I have done all of those things with an MT - except two.

I would have no problem if you made $20 when selling one of yours to me

Seriously, I don't think anybody should be upset with anyone who bought 2 and resells one online at 2 or 3 times the price. It would be a bit greedy to have bought 20 in order to resell them when only 500 were available, but I wouldn't tar and feather them for doing it.

I hadn't planned on getting one thankfully or else I might have been very aggravated because I was driving home in pouring down rain when it went for sale :ahhh

I was working and could not check in until after it sold out.

Congrats to those that got one :woohoo: We need a review when you receive it in hand though :pok: :D

Looks very cool anyways 8) :like:

Fortunately for me, I wasn't planning on buying it anyway. It just didn't appeal to me enough. I may regret that in the future, but that is how I felt this morning and now.

The next one may snag me good though

I don't know if this allays your concerns, but the LM Garage tools have a very interesting warranty clause - NO 25 Year Warranty for replacements but REPAIR or a FULL REFUND (store credit, but still):

(Image removed from quote.)

LMT knows for sure noone is going to use them, so no quality or warranty issue there  The finest multi everrrr...

What is the chance that LMT cancels the flippers's orders by guessing their locations shown on eBay? That would be hilarious. If you want to flip on eBay in the US, remember IRS wants a cut for $600+ misc income this year.

What's next--Mini Tool 2.0? If that is made, then we'll talk. That will be the "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!" tool.  Also hoping they'll try factory versions of some of the more popular mods.

I could go for Mini Tool 2.0. I could really go for an E4 3.0, Squirt size or larger.

The description on the website says "Retractable Needlenose Pliers".

Consumerism thrives as long as it keeps creating artificial needs successfully.
OK with that.
But seeing the tool of the worker man becoming a Veblen good I can't help but consider it as a perversion of a high order.
I can suggest the next move. A Leatherman with sparkling Swarovski crystals that would brake during the first use, forcing us to keep it on a velvet pillow for protection.
I prefer any humble SAK that's going to be used over such mummified capital enhancers, even if they come from Camillus and their spring will eventually break after some years of good service.
Of you enjoy it, keep enjoying, I just can't.

The Mr. Crunch was envisioned by the worker man, designed by the worker man, manufactured by the worker man, marketed by the worker man, sold by the worker man, and delivered by the worker man to worker men whose daily labors happily and voluntarily paid the salaries of each of the foregoing worker men.  From this you may take great solace, good sir.

My take is if the Garage releases are successful, they will be production release of same or similar designs in the future. They cannot have all tooling in place for just $100k sale. The sale is not their target, it is all the hypes, exclusivity... to rile up attention to the brand again. I mean, there has not much excitement about the brand lately. Look at their sales, you would think the Tread Tempo would have flied off the shelf like hot cakes, but was not the case.

I am done with being disappointed about not getting one.  :) The only disppointment I have left is with the 420HC and 17-4 stainless used on this tool. I would expect at least a 154CM main blade at that price point.

Congrat to those snatching some. I hope you are able to find some screws to test out those 6 different screw drivers.  :D

Benchmade and Spyderco have been doing this for years. It’s a great business move. At least on their end anyways. Now hopefully they can come out with some new users and some tools with some premium scales. Maybe some other G10 colors like jade, neon green, safety yellow, etc.

Playing with new plier heads is neat, but am I only the only one that looked at this and primarily just saw preexisting tools/frame?

Super short runs and higher pricing with the justification they won't be taking the steps necessary to mass produce sounded like we were going to get some interesting new stuff, not engineers playing lego with the parts bins.

I've been more excited by Sam Lin's (?) mods in the forum.

There are currently 6 for sale on eBay. I look for a run on them from people who bought multiples. Then they will dry up once they primarily fall into the hands of collectors.

The chisel is also completely new, and the small bit driver looks to be a different design.  I would have liked more changes too, but every additional change of that magnitude would add to the cost of the tool.  For me, $199 seemed like a good balance of price vs interesting changes.

I like the chisel and the pliers will be interesting. I think some of the tools are not great and would have rather had a large bit exchanger in lieu of some of the other tools like the depth gauge ruler thing and maybe the file. Still pretty cool looking tool from the pics.  8)

I remember the blunt pliers on the Surge thing, but to me it really did not serve a purpose for me. Perhaps Leatherman lept on that to give a choice from blunt-node and needle-nose. Still, the handles was filled with too much flat things it looked "rushed". A bit driver would of been loads better. And that poor excuse of a file. Meh. Glad I missed the sale. Would not of bought one even if I was a wealthy man. Am not much into collections, stuff that sits around and hoping you can make a few buck on.

The craze prolly made them sell on eBay. Past that I doubt the tool will be any more than a shelf queen. And if it broke and they paid $600 for it, they only get $200 gift certificate if they cannot fix it un the Leatherman warranty.

Have a Leatherman Zippo Pin-up Girl Lighter that I probably will not use. Judy Warner gave it to me though, so it's a keeper!  :D :2tu:

Someone at a LM Facebook Group said that they only put out 500 of these because that is what Tim's first order with Cabelas was for.  Maybe these next Garage Tools will have a little more availability.

It's kind of sad that they put what looks to be a very nice chisel on what is essentially a shelf queen.  I hope to see that option on some user tools soon.

Have we actually seen the chisel properly yet? All the pictures seem to be from the flat side, no grind.
