Debating on getting the pocket clip for my Swisstool. Does anyone know if installing one would remove the corkscrew option?

I’m assuming you’ll have to unscrew the pocket clip if you want to use the corkscrew.

The Swisstool is a beast so I’m actually ok with carrying it in a sheath.

There is a corkscrew mounting point on both sides of the tool.

Hah!!! Thanks for letting me know. I’ll check it tonight. I have an old model so I hope I just missed it.

Hmm still in the fence. The tool is a bit heavy for a pocket clip carry.

Really old ones don't have it at all.
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

I’m sure mine has at least one as I did use the corkscrew one time. I just don’t recall if there were 2 slots.

Just placed an order for two Swiss Tools - one of the new Spirit MX and Swiss Tool X Plus Ratchet - jumping in with both feet on this order. Excited to get them and compare to Leatherman that I have been using.

I dream to own one of these, but Mrs Poncho bought me a Swiss Champ years ago.  The Champ is treasured gift, and functions so far as my main multitool and working EDC.

Methinks that buying self a Swisstool would now feel mildly adulterous/frivolous.  But, ah…

So... which side are y'all mounting the clip to?  :D

That would be a good polling question?

That stinks and unfortunately it is not a common size.

Friend dropped by to take me to hit Apiary meeting. Figured I would go to see what the buzz was about. Got a free dinner. :)
When I got back I looked at a digital micrometer which has about the same size of screw, but was longer. Sure enough it fit in there, and I was able to tighten it. So, going to True Value tomorrow to see about finding a screw to replace it. The supplied version looks to be too thin in the threads of the screw.

Not sure what Victorinox would do if I asked for a replacement screw. Would probably have to send the whole thing back in, and be at least 2 weeks to get that replaced. SO going to try the hardware store first.

Are you saying the factory issued screw was stripped? - Or you stripped it whilst assembling it?

First seems very unlikely - Can't say I have ever found a stripped new screw in my whole life.

But if it is stripped, it needs to go back to Vic to sort out QA problems - Two weeks wait is worth it -
Presumably there is no real rush to get it?

Got my package today with some Swiss Tool goodies. Man, that ratchet is awesome too n the Swiss Tool X and ratchet. Already used it to fix a loose door handle and the perfect size to fit without impacting the knob.

Where can these new clips be ordered and shipped to Europe ,(specifically Israel ) ?
I don't find an option to order on the Vic global site.
Do the US or Canada sites ship overseas ?
I must be missing something  ???

That looks like a Swiss Tool clip installed on a Spirit. Ask me how I know how that looks like...

Definitely a bad screw bolt on Victorinox's end

Spent like 2 hours in True Value trying to find some bolt to work. Everything that did fit was either really super long (gunsmithing) or had flat heads. Was going to try and force a philips screw with the wrong thread, but then an employee found something more suitable. In order to have width to cover the inner gap had to use a washer. So the pliers do not close fully, as the bolt head stick up a few hairs higher. Was able to cinch down on the bolt, and used red loktite.

Here is a pic of my new additions. Been carrying the new MX Clip all week - slips right in the pocket and feels really good in-hand. Quality throughout.

OK... so how are people getting their hands on the MXBS models? The US Vic site?

I'm miffed as I thought these models were initially planned for the Australian military but they don't seem to be appearing locally!

Sorry to hear you can’t find them anywhere.  I bought mine last year from a Singapore site, but it appears that the US Swiss Army site is the only one I’m finding them available on now.

I’ve got mine with Elsinox (a member of this forum). Maybe he could help you.

Likewise. Elsinox is a good chap and was very helpful when I couldn't get one  :hatsoff:

FYI the UK(EU) site has:

Spirit MXBS available at £200 ($383 AU)

SwissTool MXBS is unavailable at £205 ($392 AU)

They don't like it up 'em!

I just got a black pocketclip for the Swisstool Spirt in the mail. While the actual clip seems high quality, the screw broke in two! It appears to be of two piece construction and there does not appear to be a way to get it back together (it does not appear to be threaded). I have attached a photo. I would have expected more from Victorinox and will call them shortly.

So this is interesting, a fast follow up. I just called Victorinox USA. They admitted right away that they were aware of quality control issues with the batch of screws (it sounded like they heard this before). They looked up my order and issued me a refund for both the clips purchased, and said they could not send me a new one as none are available, and they were unable to tell me how they were going to solve this issue, and that new clips may not be available until around June or July.

Shocked at Victorinox quality control.

Looking forward to buy a Spirit MX with clip but it’s not available (even Elsinox couldn’t help this time).

So I’ll have to wait…

Go to a local hardware store that has a large selection of screws to try out. A local True Value came through for me, but they only had a standard flathead bolt that would work. It was not fun getting it to stay put, but I managed. Ended up threading an older Kevlar shoe string through the bolted-on side of the clip, fashioned a loop so I can put the bugger out of the sheath.
That should hold you up until Victorinox stops using Chinese made screws and goes back to a reliable source instead. :viking:

Any members that have the older style Spirit and the new OHT Spirit, can you please post side be side pics on the knife blade deployed as well as the scissors?

I'm a lefty and find the standard versions of the SwissTool and the Spirit perfect for left hand cutting. I think the OHT versions have the tools switched around to accommodate the one hand opening with the right hand.

Cheers, Pete
