Another terrible loss indeed.  He was an interesting case, always known for his music, but had only three albums, yet had over 50 acting credits.  You'd think that he would be remembered more as an actor, but that really goes to show how powerful his music really was.

He had a sound that has never been, could never be imitated.  Just imagine his agent meeting the record producers-

Agent: you like rock, right?

Record company: yeah, rock is our biggest selling genre.  We are always looking for good rock bands!

Agent: okay, stick with me here.... imagine combining rock, with an orchestra.

Record company:  uhm, okay, I could see that....

Agent: And each song will be like ten minutes long!

Record company: WTF?  How will we release a single?  At 45rpm the single will have to be the size of an LP!

Agent: There's more- you can't have an orchestra without an opera singer to pull it all together!

Record compant: dude, whatever you are on right now, you either have to leave or share.

RIP Meatloaf.

You will be missed.... in another fifteen years when your next album was supposed to come out.

While I wouldn't say I was a die-hard fan, he and Jim Steinman were both essential parts of my musical background, so it was the first thing my wife told me about on Thursday morning.
I'm sure someone has said it already, but... Like a bat out of hell, he was gone when the morning came.

I got to spend a bit of time chatting with the fella when he was on our ward back in the early 2000s. He had a bit of a stumble during one of the Wembley shows, so got to enjoy our hospital(ity) for a couple of days while he got his breath back.
A very genuine, caring chap and an absolute gentleman, who always put on a brave face and kept a good sense of humour. He will be missed.

That seems to be a common observation from many people who have met him.

Our own Whoey (aka Micah) had similar comments from when he met Meat Loaf.

Seeing as he was such a great guy, that makes the loss seem that luch worse.
