Lost a Leatherman Pump that I used for merchandising, and I do not like flashing the Spirit out in public view. The Pump had a good hook cutter on one end and a nifty flathead at the other end that I also used to help unlock a broken door handle not long ago. That flathead also ripped through taped boxes. Carried it on a S-biner and it went walkabout 2 weeks ago. Never found it.
Found myself wanting a tape cutter that was small and easily carried. Think I may have found it in this

I seen on Amazon. Going to give it a whirl. Get twp for $16.
Should be small enough not to attract unwanted attention, light enough to carry, and has its own clip. Will review it when it comes in.

That looks nice and compact.
As an alternative you could go for the Boker Rescom (should be available soonish), though quite a bit more expensive.

It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

To my surprise, on arrival, two fit into a generic Altoids-like can. And... they are switchblades.
Have a medium spring.
Locking goes both ways: Push down to switch it open, which locks it into place. Press down again to close it up. Did not notice any budging or give pressing down on the back of the blade.
Fairly light in weight, 0.8 ounces aka 25 grams. Carabiner is fairly sturdy, should hand onto a belt loop or webbing easily.
Does not feel like cheap plastic handles either. Has decent grip for the fiberglass-nylon material used. Not bad for the price if they stand up and hold an edge well.
Will see how well it does at work in the coming days.
Came inside this Altoids-like can
Opened it up to two boxes, with plastic bags around each tool.
Front and back of these critters
And now for an amateur video... no tomatoes please.

First night, it cut hook part cut like a razer blade. Right through the tape and plastic dip wrappings. Poked through the cardboard boxes to cut finger holes was good. A few turns while cutting meant using the saw action, which is to be expected.
Could not attach to a belt loop like In had figured. The space between the carabiner's flexing clip is not much. And there is a small catch on the inside of the carabiner to help prevent its escape. So one has to push the carabiner area in to release. So I clipped to my key-keeper which did well. So to go around a belt loop one would need to but a split-ring in there maybe to attach it too.
On that, it does attach to a retractable ID holder that I use which already has a Fisher Backpacker pen and a small light I got a while back. The extra weight is negligible. but it sticks out (obviously). As such, one can attach one of these lil buggers to a zipper pull if you wanted, like when skiing or snowboarding.
The tool performed good for everything that I needed, and I even cut some plastic off a busted price tag holder on the shelf. No idea how these things break but looks like people are ripping plastic slivers out, and those do not feel good and some are sharp. Rather than drag out the Spirit with the extra secure clip I used this cutter tool. Performed well there too. Have not encountered anything with a bottle cap to see if the carabiner can pop a cap.
For an $8 tool, since 2 are for $16, it does surprisingly well. Now if only had a clip on the side, could slip it into the placket.

Is quite a useful tool, but the small cut hook gap means tape jams up in there often. Cleaning that can be fun. The serrated is iffy on use, as most times it slices good, other times it hangs up. probably due to its size. Laying it over on an angle seems to rip through tape better. And, if it does wander off into cardboard it will slice it - with ample power from you to drag such a tiny knife down the length.
Whatever cheap tape was used on the boxes tonight, they seems to shred in thin strips, which is what was clogging the cutter hook.

Interesting tool,although a bit small.
It looks as though you can get only two fingers of the handle.
