Day 8

Nothing exciting today - did want to take a pic of the pliers as that is one implement, oddly, that I have not yet used in the challenge! Hope to remedy that in the coming days.

If you like drip coffee, have you tried the Primula Brew Buddy?  It is a reusable dripper that is pretty compact and convenient

I usually drink Espresso's, but these work well on the bike trips. I sometimes carry an AeroPress but with that I need to carry coffee too. I take two bags and make that to fill the 500ml flask I have for the day.

I'll have a look at the one you showed.

Cheers, Pete

That is strict and I can see why you don’t want to carry a multitool back and forth from work.

It is strict Sherry. I can carry to and from work if I want but, it'd mean carrying all my kit (baton, cuffs, limb restraints etc) and it's just a pain in the @rs# as it would be difficult to justify why I needed my MT and not the rest (especially if I was not changing work location the following day)

DAY 8

Another unplanned work day today providing some training (so no work based use)  ::)

Instead here's a glamour type shot with a vase of stocks  :dunno:

I think more tools should somehow incorporate a small ruler.
That's a sound idea, but it can go wrong in practice. As much as I like a Leatherman, the ruler in a Rev was not one of their better ideas.

The knife is a 2 blade on a single spring, made by one of the Bulgarian factories in the 80.
Very cool! Would love to see more photos of it if at all possible.

Great work, y'awl. Lots of excellent uses and photos in this thread. And of course, I'm glad to see alexanderre is still hanging in there.

Officially it's the same. It's the fact that the blade locks on most MT's, and on some the blade length is also the issue. You might get a reasonable copper and if you could demonstrate that you genuinely forgot and were actually carrying out some DIY type task and had just nipped to the hardware store it might be just be a finger wagging.

That said, it is what is known here as a "strict liability" offence (like speeding) Either the blade locks or it doesn't and either you were speeding or you were not. You may have mitigating circumstances but the onus would be on you to prove those to the satisfaction of the Police Officer (or potentially a court)

You might get away with a warning if you pass the attitude test but it's all dependent upon the circumstances etc. Of course, outside of the above, if you can demonstrate "reasonable excuse" that's a whole different ball game.

Basically, you run a real chance of arrest if caught with one and you could end up losing the thing, particularly if found guilty at court  ::)
That's what I figured.  I know a lot of it is how much attention you draw to yourself, and definitely the attitude test.

Day 8
(Image removed from quote.)
Were hiking this morning and came across an old mining site.

(Image removed from quote.)
Later I used the scissors to open a pack of instant coffee. Not my usual brand, and I most certainly will not buy it again. Whoever the Taster's were, they had no taste.
I can taste that instant right now!!

I understand.  I love the Aeropress and that is what I use on a normal basis, but it isn’t the most convenient for carrying.  When I do carry it, I store the coffee in an old medicine bottle that fits in the plunger.

The Spirit cut open a bag of pistachios and a bag of dog treats, but instead of action shots, I decide on a glamour shot

Day 9/31

G'Day,

Nothing much today, cutting duties only. Fruit for morning tea and a muffin for afternoon tea. The banana peal got cut up for the orchids, they love the skin water and it helps with flowering.

Cheers, Pete

Very cool! Would love to see more photos of it if at all possible.

Sure, here it is:

Not the best fit and finish, some gaps but nothing too bad. The handle is some kind of hard plastic, I've cracked a lot of those when trying to tighten the pivot a bit. This one is brand new so I did not need to bash it with a hammer  :D

Both blades have half stops and the springs are flush at the half stop. The stops are not exactly at 90 degrees. The tang stamp is something to mention. First symbol is the crossed harvest hook and hammer that was the logo of the factory. Next are the symbols BT in Cyrillic which are the abbreviation of  the city the factory was located - Veliko Turnovo. And the unique thing is on the second row of the tang stamp - that is actually the price in BGN they used to sell the knives for. I have not seen this in any other country's production. Don't believe it's a good idea either, it's just unique.

Anyway, a decent little knife, slim and easy to carry.

DAY 9

A group photo of all the stuff I had on me while I was out today.

Day 9/30. Checked for flint shards in my bike tyres today. After quite a long ride yesterday I've found it pays to look for those sharp little points that wear their way into the inner tube when you least expect it.

Today I switched it up to the Spirit MXBS which helped get my wife’s car started.  Needed the pliers to adjust and tighten the battery connectors.  Used the file to clean off a little corrosion.  The scissors also cut some reference cards to stick in the pouch with the jump starter.

Great job Sherry!  I'd have killed for a Swisstool back in the days when I ran air-cooled Volkswagens.
