Hacker Badge Request
on: May 11, 2022, 07:39:18 PM
Requesting hacker badge for a long overdue modification to my Leatherman Titanium Frankenstein. Plan is to replace Leatherman sad excuse for scissors with  Victorinox 91 mm scissors.

Step 1: Place scissors in a vice using cardboard or something to protect the implement. Use a dremel on high speed with carbide burr in 3 to 5 second increments with water to cool until you achieve a hole able to clear a 7/32 inch drill bit.

Step 2: Use a 7/32 inch bit to align a leatherman tool (file for example) with scissor and mark excess material with a sharpie. Magnify pic to see areas of interest on scissors.

Step 3: Use dremel with metal cut off wheel to remove excess material. Also could use a sander of course. Note, you will want to angle cut at the base of scissors 5-10 degrees depending on which position you wish to place the scissors in leatherman for appropriate lock up.

Step 5: Use a couple T10 security torx to install Victorinox scissors. Hope you give this a try. Took me about 2 hours. Took my time so I could attain a perfect fit. Note, you will have to depress the liner lock twice when you open or close. Small price to pay for excellent scissors.

:iagree: Vic definitely has them beat in that aspect for sure

I like them and use them some but always end up carrying my Executive because of the scissors more than anything else, well when I am not in a challenge anyways  :salute: of course when I am not carrying a Vic it really shows how much I miss the Vic scissors

Actually the advice scissors are the best competition for Vic out of all the LM scissor designs and I actually really like them but ai just never carry a Juice enough  :D

And congrats on the badge.

How did I miss your post. That is a great idea. I have this charge dressed out similar to yours. Have rebar head (prior to release of replaceable wire cutters), Texas tool crafter S35VN blade, awl in place of small scissors and Metro's scalpel holder in place of the file. My "Frankenstein". Thanks for scissor solution amigo.

Nice work! Thanks for the very helpful post, I had been hoping to find something like this showing the specific geometry involved in this mod.
