I suppose a few updates are in order!
We arrived safe and sound on Sunday, then Monday my father and I went to Sault Ste Marie, about a hundred and thirty kms west of my father's place. While there I picked up a couple of new toilets as his were around 30 years old and starting to show their age.
Tuesday we replaced one and Wednesday we replaced the other. Interspersed with all of the above I have been teaching my father to fly the drone I gave him- a DJI Mini 2, and he is absolutely fascinated with it.
We also went to the dump to dispose of the old toilets, and then om Thursday evening my brother and his family arrived. His boys are getting big! I mean, they were only born a few years ago, but somehow one has just turned 18 and the other 15.
My brother, father and I went to a local store that sells a certain type of greenery, because we thought it would be funny to purchase certain types of previously illegal materials with our father. I picked up a couple of edibles, but honestly it was more for the novelty than any particular interest. I don't usually partake, but I'm on vacation!
Today I may try to get some drone shots around town, with the intent of putting together a small tourist-type video for my own amusement. I live this place, and, as you can see from the attached pic below, there's lots to love. I can even kayak from the house into town for shopping if I wanted!
This is an absolute slice of Heaven as far as I am concerned, although the black flies are merciless and I already covered in bites.

What's the point of having a vacation (or doing anything fun) if you can't share it with your friends?
There's been a lot of wildlife sightings, as usual. Sorry for the terrible photos, but wildlife isn't the most accommodating when they have been spotted!
I don't know if this was the same bunny as earlier or a different one, but it's good to see them again. There has been an overabundance of predators here lately and it's been a while since we have seen bunnies here.
These big birds are sand hill cranes- a popular sight around here and very pretty. We also get herons here, but they are very skittish and fly away as soon as you see them.

Not all the creatures were cute- I opened the hood of my father's side by side just to see what the motor looked like and I found this giant pile of leaves. I'm glad I noticed it before this giant pile of leaves caught fire!
I didn't take before pics, but here are two piles we pulled out and the mess still in there, waiting for some compressed air to finish the job.

Good to hear all is well. Looks like a Tornado landed in Gaylord which is an hour south of Sault in Michigan. From the photos, it looks like a bad one. Also sounds like Southern Ontario got hit real bad with a storm as well. I am so wanting to fly my drone, but the winds haven't been so kind of late.

Looks like tornadoes in Ottawa again, maybe also Toronto.
Both cities were hit bad.

I just read that now. Happy to hear it blew over both of us. Not happy at the loss of life from what I gathered. I doubt any family members of the deceases will ever read this...but my condolences nevertheless to those who were affected...not to mention the significant property loss.
On the flip side, I am positively hoping for less windy conditions. I am really wanting a second flight with a bit more air time then simply a white knuckle up and down just to see if I can take off and land without crashing and burning. I even bought Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 2022 bundle at Staples because of the drone. I didn't have any video editing software, and I wanted to get back into the Adobe atmosphere. I do like and still will have Corel's PaintShop Pro 2020 Ultimate which I still have on the computer...but there are a few things that Adobe still does better. No clue on how to use Premiere Elements as video editing was never something I envisioned myself doings, but from what I have read, it should not be that difficult. Time will tell.

The death toll I think is now 5, but I'm guessing it will continue to rise as the cleanup goes and more are found.
It's supposed to be nice later today and nicer tomorrow, so with any luck I'll be able to get out and do some shooting around town.

Today is a hard day- I am leaving my father's place. It was always hard to leave here, but it's harder now that I'll be leaving him completely alone.
Next stop, Toronto!

We made it to Toronto safely yesterday and now we are at the vet hospital waiting for the dog's assessment at the animal hospital. If all goes well we will leave him here and they will perform his surgery tomorrow. Naturally I am quite apprehensive about leaving him anywhere, but hopefully they will fix him right up.
