Day 10 -
Storms after dinner here, beach a clean slate, some clouds east.
The Case Scout caught the sunrise yet, could not get the AWL to make an appearance, broke thumb nail even shorter

Day 10

Something a little different for today. This one started life as a Camillus 27. Its screwdriver broke at some point. The gentleman who sent it to me removed that layer and fitted it with bone covers. It has a very strong pull (at least an 8.5/10) and closing snap that'll dang near break your finger. I'll be cutting an easy open notch into it one day.

+1

Just had the same happened to me but luckily it was just the skin surface. Was cleaning the blade of the Pioneer X with a paper towel and just got the thumb too clse to the knife's edge.

 :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

I think the problem is the paper towels, not the knives...

 :agree: sharp knife good, paper towel bad

Day 10

I decided to change things up today and swap out my Buck with my Rough Ryder.  I really like this knife, but I hate the way it rides in my pocket - it slides to the bottom of my pocket and sits parallel to the ground, which is both uncomfortable and it looks bad.  I suppose the Cadet falls to the bottom of my pocket the same way, but it is small and light enough to not notice.  I really need to find a pocket knife that has 2 blades (one drop/clip and one sheepsfoot/wharncliff) that's about the same size and weight as my Cadet.

Day 10 (Chicken throw-down response!):

The new Wharncliffe got carried to and was call upon to piece out the throw-down bird.

While the Wharncliffe did the job, I wasn't thrilled by the way the knife and I worked together. The fine tip was brilliant at getting into joints, but I felt the flat edge made it a bit difficult to make trimming cuts on the cutting board. Before slipping it into my pocket today, I did touch the edge up on a fine stone, followed by a stropping. Despite that, the edge didn't feel razor sharp. The edge was 'tacky' to the touch, but it felt a bit sluggish in action. It may be the case that I'm still experiencing the factory edge and that will improve with time and sharpening. (I'll probably give it a little love tomorrow.) It might also be that I was just a bit off my game today....  :dunno:

Simply seasoned and grilled with indirect heat for about 75 minutes.

The fun happened on the plate. The cooked chicken was served with a peanut sauce, red chile flakes, and green onions. The peanut sauce was a bit messy, but, hey, it's Summer.  :D

Looks like a fine meal!!!

I like the knife too. The flat edge might not be perfect for butchery,,, but it looks like a great EDC.

All of my few Case knifes show/had a bit of a rough/sawy factory edge, which could take a bit more effort to smoothen out on a super steel.
You might feel just that  :dunno:

RR Ramshorn Half Whittler.  Great little knife this one.  The amount of "spring" you get opening the small blade can make it jump in your hand if you're not looking out for it.  Very useful for getting at recent purchases.   :D
