I'm thinking you'll need to know which you want for the day.
Me, too.

If I were in the market for a knife with interchangeable blades, I'd seek out a Buck Selector or a Case XX-Changer. The blades on those two can be swapped without tools. "Parts," on the other hand, requires tools for blade swaps. And the T6 screws have high potential to grow legs and walk away.

If you like it and managed to get one, congratulations. But in my opinion, this isn't terribly innovative; they just made blade swaps unnecessarily complicated. interchangeable blade systems are nothing new, and others have executed them better (at lower prices, too). "Parts" reminds me of a utility knife that you have to split open when changing the blade...

I missed it, but not sad. As others have said, better versions exist in other brands and I can easily see losing the parts. Plus, where do you keep the extra blade? I really wanted a Darkside and missed that one too. Oh sell, not meant to be. The whole thing with the Garage is only allowing one or person. I am hesitant to use the tool since you cannot else it of needed. These are all collector pieces, which is fine, but not sure it there are going to be many people using these tools in the field. So, no real or meaningful feedback in my opinion.

That's crazy! :o I am sure someone has asked already, but I can't find it. Does anybody know how many are made? For all of the batches.

Slightly embarrassed, but thank you Aloha. :hatsoff:
So thirty would be close to four percent on ebay alone. I really hope that those who actually wanted it got it.

Honestly, these limited warranties are basically the same as any other retired tool.  These tool are just retired in less than a half an hour.  I mean, try warrantying a Klamath right now.

49 for sale on eBay.  Only 4 have sold.  It would be sorta funny if the scalpers can't move these.

When I did my search, I saw a lot of Dark Sides still for sale, so you might be right.

When I pulled the trigger on mine I thought that $230 after tax and shipping was really pushing it. These turds who are asking $900 for these may want to reassess their situation. Even the DarkSide prices have dropped dramatically. Now Mr Crunch I can see holding some value. Unless the Garage comes out with something revolutionary I think the returns on flipping will slowly ebb away. I just don’t see anything huge though if they are going to be pumping these out every 3-4 months.

Their warranty is just acknowledging that these are truly limited runs and they do not maintain stock for warranty replacements for the normal 25 year duration. Frankly, I don't see how they can do much better than a 100% store credit refund if the tool breaks.
I think think the problem is that they pretend that this is to be used (see image) and my "honest" edit (don't take this too serious).
Btw, I do believe that making limited runs for collectors for extra money is fair and good business. After all, everybody can opt not to buy one.

Different steels
I mean they could have made a carbon steel blade and a vanax blade, now that would have been different.

Still, have to admit, if I could buy one at original price, I probably would. Really dig the design.

That last one really did not interest me at all

I was planning on trying to get all the Garage releases but that Parts description and the way they presented it did nothing for me :ahhh I am glad I missed out  :D

Though it is indeed usable, I would agree that the great bulk of them will be safe queens. As I've said previously, it's a sound concept, but the execution was (to say the least) lacking.

I agree!  I would definitely use mine if it wasn't an instant collector's item.  Limited Edition anything = "Made to be put on a shelf"

:tu: E.  While there might be some, very few would actually put any of these Garage tools to use.  This is a collectors run of tools.  Its a good way to adopt what many have been doing.  Tapping into the collector market is great business.  Three tools in and three instant collector pieces.  Not bad LM, not bad at all.

Lets put aside the insane bay of flea prices, these will be tools folks want.  You wont have to wait 20 years for them to "become" collectable.  I have zero issues with this.  Again, good for you who got them and good for LM, I'd say win/win.

I was less impressed with the last two than I was with MrCrunch.  To me little if anything was done that "pushed"  design or engineering.

I love the edit and totally agree.  Yay collectors of LM.  I'm am really happy for these garage tools and hope they can get their creative juices flowing on the next release.

I’m gonna say it:  I like batch 003.   It’s so light and easy to carry.   Really digging the pattern of the blades, especially the s30v one.   Digging the stonewash pattern.  I think the white and pastel colors really make the stonewash pop.   I really wanted to dislike it, but it’s actually nice to hold and seems like it had more effort put into it than Darkside.  It’s at least more unique than Darkside.

I like that I can easily carry both my P4 and Parts at the same time.  Carrying two MTs has been a chore :)

There are LE and there are LE

This is so severely limited that it kinda would be a shame if you break it.
On the other hand, I have a limited edition Spyderco Shaman (because of lucky timing more than anything else. I had decided to buy a Shaman and the LE with better steel for the same price popped up). If I break it, I can always buy a new Shaman. So, the first thing I did was color the scales. Now that it's collector value was gone, I can use it with impunity and no guilt :D

I did an unboxing/first impression if anyone is interested

I’m only liking it more and more as I carry it.  The axis lock orientation does take getting used to and seems to be getting easier to use.   I like the small thumb studs compared to the monster ones on my mini griptilian getting caught on everything.

Looks more like tha Ant-Lock from Steel Will

Did you change the blades? Saw a video that the coating suffers quite a bit when you exchange the blades.

Yea you’re right!   I don’t have any Steel Will knives.

I did not change the blades.   Didn’t wanna chew up the paint or that small T6 screw.

Is it even a sliding-bar lock? I assumed it was the magnet-based locking system from the Free series knives?

Not magnet, but not sliding-bar like the Axis lock.   It’s more akin to the lever lock mechanism of the Free’s outer layer tools (knive, saw, scissor)

You definitely don't want to pry with that knife. This is not a good knife design; knife companies would not make mistakes such as coating that T6 screw.
