That's a cool Boker mod.

I like lazar's ideas and see no harm in it.  I'm in agreement.
May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

I had given some thought to pulling a bag or two of the frequent travelers out of the box, myself.  I think if lazar removes a few things, it would be fine with me.  I don't much care if he donates them or sells them and I don't want to see pictures of removed items.  All donations to the box are very much appreciated and having more stuff in the box makes the search for treasures even more exciting.  I wouldn't want anyone to feel bad because the items they donated were never picked, but it is clear that nobody's been dreaming of finding many of these items or they would have been selected already. We can vote on whether lazar should remove anything and if we agree to it lazar can use his best judgement.  I vote remove some stuff because the box is too full.

Support letting Lazar yoink some of the old stuff. First choice (like I said) would be trying to get them to a scout group, friends who camp, etc., but willing to trust his judgement to get them wherever is practical for him.

Good picks! :tu: I'm pretty sure Kershaw called that tool the Ration. I'm also in favor of trimming some excess from the box, any which way it's done.

I probably should have mentioned what a great mod that our friend lazar did to the little Boker.  First class work, as always.  Probably the way it should have been made in the first place.  Best wishes.  Gary
 :hatsoff:

On the USB OTF 2.0, Boker actually has a pocket clip on them now.

Alrighty, I'll go through the box again and grab some of the items that have been in the box everytime I've gotten it (things that no one has taken, over and over).  I have a buddy that has a son, that is into all things outdoors, including scouts.  I'm sure between him and his young friends they would be very appreciative!

I like the scouts.  There could be some liability problems with providing youngsters a bunch of sharp things.  Everyone gets up in the morning and feels bad, so they want to sue.  I think it would be better to pawn the things and donate the money to the scouts.  Remember the scouts all have parents.  They might not want to have their kids with knives they didn't provide permission for.  Remember some of these things are defective to begin with.  Locks don't work.  Blades are loose, etc.  Young Freddie cuts himself.  Mom finds somebody to blame.  And litigate against.  Who gave precious this faulty/sharp knife?  Without permission.
If I were a scout, I wouldn't want the clunkers anyway.  They already have a good sturdy knife.  Assuming the scouts still allow a knife.  Might better think some more on this one.  Best wishes.  Gary.

Went thru the box again while cleaning it out and decided to grab this Gerber Armbar and microfiber cloth out.

Well done. I knew there would be something else for you if you just had another look.  There were 2 armbars in that Gerber box. I hope you noticed that before disposing of the box.

Yay!  jump right in there.  Did you ever hook up with the neighbor's kid who wanted a scout knife?  The Old Timer looks an awful lot like a Ruff Rida that I carried last month.  Except for the Old Timer logo, saw cut handles and a better can opener.  I might have to try the RR antique can opener again.  Might find a nice soft can of some sort?  Best wishes.  Gary

Yeah I did, and he loves it! I also gave him an older Imperial scout knife I picked up somewhere. So now he has two.

Here's the lineup. My wife grabbed a 'biner, some keyrings and a pen with a magnifying glass in it. I got the Lansky sharpener, Gerber Mr. Pinchy, and a Wenger SAK in addition to four of the Chinese knives. Actually the BRK linerlock is Taiwanese, not Chinese. I include the Schrade linerlock in that because it is indeed Chinese.
I got a safety razor and some blades for it, too. I recently started using a safety razor part of the time because I remember my dad using them before switching to Gillette Atra probably 50 years ago. Until recently I didn't know they still made them.

I never knew members would want old safety razors.  I could have put several in the box.  I haven't used one in ages.  My old Uncle Rob gave me a grocery bag of the blades.  All new in the packs.  Mostly some store brand or other.  Maybe 200 packs or more.  I took them to the local flea market and tried to sell the bag for $10.  No takers.  I offered to take $5.  Nada.  Offered to give them away.  Zilch.
Looks like the neat Gerber multi was worth more than the postage investment.  Plus the fun.  How about another photo or two of the Wenger?  I do love Wengers.

Very nice selection!  I've been using a safety razor for over 10yrs.  Cheaper to buy blades for it and for me, a better, and more comfortable shave.

A good assortment of items! :tu: I, too, like a safety razor. Yet my seemingly always being in a hurry to shave and my preferred supplier of shave soap having suspended shipments to the States have mandated a switch to an electric razor.

Brilliant selection. I'm glad you and your Frau each found a few things to keep.

I make my own mug soap.  Just save the slivers and nubs of bar soaps for a couple of years, and when you have enough, crumble all of the fragments along with the fancy little beauty bars you get from hotels into the mug, pour in boiling water to cover and put a heavy jar or can on top of it.  A few days later the water has evaporated, and you have a nice puck in the bottom of your mug.

If anyone wants next just post that you want the surprise box here in the forum and PM your information to WECSOG

If you still have those blades, I wouldn't mind having some of them.
On the Wenger, I was already thinking about showing more along with info about it that I found on the wiki. I'll do that shortly.

I decided to try safety razors because they're cheaper, the nostalgia of remembering them from when I was a kid, and because the quality of most of the cartridge razors seems to have gone down over the past few years.

To me it seems that a safety razor is not well suited for use with shaving cream. I'm planning to try it with shaving soap pretty soon. I used to have and use a mug, soap and brush, but haven't seen them in probably 30 years.
