Probably done to death. But my newly clipped crunch
on: September 19, 2021, 06:51:43 AM
This one is probably done many times. But it was a bit unnerving because it was a brand new Crunch.

The clip is from a Rev, Sidekick, Wingman, but it didn't come from a tool. I bought it for doing this little project.

I was inspired by Aaron Mooney in the facebook groups.

I'm not sure I've seen one with that particular clip. I think wspeed's is a Kick clip.

With the right drill and tap set the clip from the Free could be added too. It would look beautiful although the steel is quite hard. I broke two bits and didn't make much progress. I read somewhere online that a masonry bit would work. I didn't believe it but had a go because I ran out of bits.

It took some lubrication and patience but it did the trick.

First I have seen with the Sidekick/Wingman clip :salute: the Free Clip would probably be a good direction to take as well

I just don't have the tools for such precision drilling and tapping job. But would love to see one with that clip.

Would the drilling be easy due to n abundance of masonry bits  :pok:

You probably have a press drill. I did that with an 18V one.

My HSS got blunt quite quickly.

No drill press I just use a battery hand drill for everything  I had one bit that would barely scratch the stainless  then I had a kit of drill bits and the correct size of that one went straight through the handle  :o :D

First post, but i saw this and had to try it with an old rev. The picture doesnt want to post, but i flipped the chicago screw, put a 632 screw and washer and made the locking notch with a carbide dremel bit

Tip for tapping (excuse the pun): I find stainless steel to be a bit hard on those taps that cut the whole thread in one go. I prefer the old-fasioned sets of three with increasing thread depth.

I have been wanting a clip for my crunch for a long time but the kick clip has been out of stock everywhere forever. I actually found a place that said online they had 600 kick clips and contacted them to buy a bunch they checked and replied it was an inventory error.

So i was searching MTO and came upon this thread. PM'd the poster how it was holding up and he was still really happy with it, So off to ebay, I found the clip no problem but the hex hole is actually larger than the chicago screw on the crunch,

So I ended up also getting the pivot that is used in the rev/sidekick/wingman as well since it has a hex interface for the clip built into the screw.

while cutting the hole for the locator on the clip I broke 1/16" hss bit and 3/32 cobalt bit.

But I was able to get a hole done and it fits with just a bit of slop.
