Popeye’s versus Chick-Fil-a

Chickfila is always GTG in quality and the meal is 99.9% the same every location. Good ole dependable 'Fila.  :salute:

Popeye's is wildly unpredictable in service and food quality. When it's good it's damn good. Mmm mmmm mmmm.  When it's bad though it is bibically bad.

Popeye’s food is pretty good, if you can survive the gauntlet of ATTITUDE

A few years ago Megan and I were absolutely famished after kayaking all day, so we stopped into a Popeyes as it was the closest restaurant to where we were.

They had run out of chicken.

A chicken restaurant ran out of chicken.

That's all they smurfing serve, and they were out.

I can't say anything about Chickfila, but we did get a Popeyes a few years back here in the city. A lot of locals went wild when they first opened up. It didn't take them long to not go there anymore. My personal experience was trice, and all were bad experiences. The first time, we got shortchanged our food. The second time, the women behind the counter actually tried to fat shame us. I waited a couple of years to go back and try them again. This time around, nobody was working. The place was open...the doors were not locked, but nobody was there. Oddest thing...and the last time I will ever go there again.

When they first opened in Halifax last year people waited in line for hours, even backed up onto the highway and disrupting traffic for up to eight hours.

Boy I'm glad I am not cool so I don't have to do stupid crap like that.

Don't have a thought on either but the chickfila here is very busy on Saturday and Monday since they close on Sundays.

Lately Royal Farms convenient , has been coming up from Maryland to the New Jersey market. Their claim to fame is fried chicken. Though good, what they dip the chicken in is a bit on the salty side, sometimes🤔👍

My $0.02…

If you want a chicken sandwich, it’s Chick-fil-A FTW.

If you want traditional (i.e. bone-in, skin-on) fried chicken, Popeye’s is the standard by which others are judged.

For my money, Wendy's Spicy Chicken is the best fast food chicken sandwich.

Never much cared for Chic-Fil-A. The batter often comes out soggy. Lately, it's mostly been Panera if we want fastish food. They've been doing a lot of promos, so it's often cheaper than a traditional fast food place, and there's at least the option of trying to eat semi-healthy.

People complain about McDonalds, Burger King and KFC, trying to find newer, older, cooler places to go to but the fact that they are everywhere and are usually busy says a lot.

And this coming from me, who has probably last been to any of those over 10 years ago, and before that I may have been to them once every couple of years, if even so.

I  make my own burgers (and other things) and fry/grill my own chicken, amongst other meats.
