HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

MCNTR DAY 23

decided to have a nice peaceful Thanksgiving at home with just me and the pup. (and the minichamp of course)

No in-laws!  :twak:

it was wonderful
  :D

used the emergency blade to poke some holes in a new water jug of spring water. Also roasted a chicken for me and Bella but didn't end up trying to carve it with the MC.

Mrs. Explorer was kind enough to make some extra scalloped potatoes and a pie for me. yum! didn't get a chance to take a picture before they got scarfed.

Enjoying reading everyone's posts- excellent uses and pictures to all!

Cheers!  :salute:  :salute:

Looks like fun.  I never had an Opinel.  A dealer wanted to sell me his remaining Opinel knives at cost, but I didn't know what I was going to do with them.  Good job.  Best wishes.  G

Late posting again.  Minichamp worked in a supervisory position today whilst the father in law and I worked on the deck for the grandkids' play ground.

 Day 24
I don't think I ever want to see another turkey.  Unless it has feathers and is walking around.  No leftovers for me today.  I'm going to make a piece of toast for breakfast and try to eat that.
I see why Aztec dreads to go to his in-laws.  They put him to work assembling furniture and doing construction work.  He probably has to get on the roof and nail down shingles today.
There seemed to be a lot of airing out MiniChamps (and Opinels) yesterday.  Some pumpkin pie and a promise of pecan.  Flowers and gnomes.  The usual knife nut stuff.   My little red knife wanted to swing on a vine.  Might have been Virginia Creeper, and might have been Poison Ivy.  I'm not really sure which.  There is so much of both.  I made it get down and behave.  Best wishes.  Gary

I seem to remember that someone said that there would be some pecan pie?

Oh, wait  that was me.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Mrs knows that I like punkin and pecan pie this time of the year and she's got me covered for a few days.

That reminds me of the "medicine" used on the Lewis and Clark expedition for constipation, syphilis and a myriad of other remedies called "Rush's Thunderbolts".  It contained mercury, which allowed modern scientists to identify places the expedition camped by testing the level of mercury found in the soil.

Hi Pit,
Remember when you could go in the little combination grocery and gas stations.  There was always a red Coca Cola fridge.  Slide back a zinc door in the top and reach in for a bottle.  Rack nearby with Drake's sno balls, Jack's cookies, jellyrolls from Kerns and Merita, little pecan pies.  A quarter would buy a coke and a pack with two sno balls.  Take your choice of white or pink.  Plus you would get change back.
Penny gum ball machines.  If you got a speckle ball, then you got a prize.  Rack of twist tobacco and plug for the older guys.  Black Maria, Bull o the Woods, Red Coon.  Mammoth Cave twist.  Wood stove in the corner with boxes and old busted chairs around it.  The men would come in and smoke and talk.  Gone forever old friend.  Never coming back.  Best wishes.  Gary

That red coca-cola fridge imagery brought back memories. We had a small mom and pop place that had a little bit of everything and right at the front was that coca-cola machine. Loved putting in my coin and getting to pull out an ice cold coke.

Yeppers.  I certainly do.
Reminds me of one of my first jobs.
It was in a no-gas pump convenience store.
The drinks out of the Coke cooler were the coldest ones around.

You forgot the rack beside it for the empties.
