Considerably warmer than yesterday.  I'm able to sit out front, enjoy a quiet smoke and do some paracord work.
Brass Viking bead to go with the brass clip.

It will definitely be part of my EDC moving forward even if I carry another SAK with me.  I've become so enamored with it that I'm looking for a case that I can attach to my keys to carry it so I won't mar it any further.  I'd like to do a scale swap but I'm unaware of any translucent green scales that would work on the Mini Champ and not lose the pen.

Why not make your own pouch?
Here's one I did using leather from an old purse.  The D ring came from a dollar store dog harness.  The position of the D ring lets it hang along the keys sideways.

Day 27
MiniChamp with some reading.  Two knots everyone should know.  Easy to learn.  Got to practice a little.  Get out a piece of cord and do it today.
The old Scout's manual says to tie a bowline around yourself.  Well you can, but it is good for any time you need a loop that won't tighten up when you put pressure on it.  No slip in this knot.  Good for lots of things.  Mini has one at the end of its tether.  That's how it gets tied to a belt loop.
Two half hitches.  Simple.  Quick.  I don't tie it exactly like they show.  I would tie it to a post by passing the line around the post, then wrapping the line around one more time.  Then tie the half hitches.  "A round turn and two half hitches won't let you down when you need them."
That's the knot on the other end of Mini's little leash.  No room for the extra turn part.  It would be better.  Best wishes.  Gary

Day 27

Bought a Tread, always wanted to know what they were like.
It's substantial.  I'll likely use it as a coffee table ornament, conversation starter.

Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

More nailcare today. I wonder why Vic changed the nailfile design in the larger SAKs? The old version is just so much more comfortable than the new one, which is way to aggressive for my liking.

I agree. Those two and the figure-eight knot are quite elementary, not just for sailors but for anyone working with rope every once in a while.

Fiber is good for you. The Minichamp’s scissors got me into this bag of it.

I do wish it tasted better though.

That's not a bad idea.  I have some scrap leather lying around that I forgot about until you mentioned it.

I wear one as part of my EDC.  It's come in handy when I've been on the field and I didn't have my tools on me.  I've even used it to turn sockets.  It is a bit heavy though.  I removed one link as it was too large for my apparently "dainty" wrists.   ::)

Day 27

Minichamp was stuck on package duty again.

No worries, I wasn't injured during this endeavor.  I made sure to get the wife's approval before getting these as an early Christmas present.  :D
Lighting was bad when I took these so the pictures don't show how bright of a chartreuse these are.

  Day 28
Two members enroll here about the same time.  One has retained his balance apparently by using mushroom essence and a nice daily walk in the woods with a basket.  Possibly some herbal tea and stone-ground whole grain toast with wild damson jam were involved.  Result.  Evidently he hasn't bought a flotilla of small sharp red thingies.  If he did, he didn't say anything about it.
The second is a much sadder tale.  Joined up a few days later.  Had a lifetime supply of red multi whittlers.  Odds and ends.  Picked up some here and there.  Over the years maybe.  Then things changed.  It seems every day or two he is seen opening another box full of the red demons.  Now it is the latter stages of the process.  Limited editions.  Two at a time.  The affliction has progressed from the reds into the pinks and yellows.  Reminds me a little of a rabid dog running in circles, biting himself to death.  Brrrrr.  A family man, too.
Oh well.  What do I care.  I'm still in the red pocket multi-thingy stage myself.  How about an old ad with a MiniChamp?  Best wishes.  G

Day 27 of 30:
Got busy at work with student meltdowns, paperwork, and an IEP meeting. As soon as the meeting was over, I had to rush home and get my daughter to gymnastics. Anyways, enough excuses...I used my MC to change out some batteries in the most obnoxious singing Christmas decoration. It's a moose in a rocking chair singing, "Grandma got run over by a reindeer." I may have to use it again to remove the batteries in the near future

Today's feature is a blast from the past.

Having no uses today I thought I'd share one of my old favorite MiniChamps from before my Alox days.

Do you teach all subjects, or just math?  I bet you are a great teacher.  Best wishes.  G
I saw the neat orange SAK, Pit.  Then I saw what I thought was a lanyard with a silver Cthulhu figurine.  I figured out it was probably just an octopus.  Still cool.  Best wishes. G
