I'm 0 for 1 with that. The one time I tried, I bent the corkscrew. Hope your luck (or is that skill?) was better than mine.

Another great day, y'awl!

This salt shaker clumped up due to humidity.  Added some rice using the tweezers (the shaker is a one time use sealed unit).  We’ll let it sit for a few days to see if the salt flows freely.

I'm 0 for 1 with that. The one time I tried, I bent the corkscrew. Hope your luck (or is that skill?) was better than mine.

I do this with some regularity, and have generally not had any issues.

My technique is to hold the bottle with my left (non-dominant) hand (ideally, with the bottle sitting flat on a table or countertop), screw the corkscrew all the way in as close to the center of the cork as possible, and use my right (dominant) hand to grip the SAK and pull the cork straight out.  Pulling straight is key, as pulling at an angle is what ends up bending the corkscrew.

Another member here (I would give credit, but I can’t recall who it was) suggested that a better approach is to continue twisting the corkscrew in until the cork starts rotating in the bottle, and that once this happens the cork is easier to pull out.  I have tried this, and my experience is that while this technique does require less force to remove the cork, I end up picking bits of the cork out from between the SAK liners, so not necessarily more efficient overall IMO.

I keep thinking how neat that Vic shield on your scales would look on Alox  :dd:

I use the technique nate mentioned. There’s a Felix Immler video I think mentioned in that thread.  It works great.

This salt shaker clumped up due to humidity.  Added some rice using the tweezers (the shaker is a one time use sealed unit).  We’ll let it sit for a few days to see if the salt flows freely.

The Explorer with coffee, a full liter of coffee, as I am heading out for the holiday weekend.  I've a 5 hour drive ahead of me and won't be posting until I return.  I'll post all of my pictures when I get back.

My company hosted a charity bowling event last night.  The laces on my bowling shoes were super tight, so I used the hook to pull them loose.

A full liter of coffee...
I easily drink at least twice that a day. Safe travels!

I used the hook yesterday!
:woohoo:

I'm still thinking that the scissors/hook and ILP layer would make for a great bladeless mod. Mine would have Micarta liners and hardwood scales. Or maybe all Micarta if it can do double duty as scale and liner (as Alox does).

More great work from awl!

Bought some living lettuce. The container would not pop open, so, out came Explorer.  Cut into the container and the salad came free.

I thought of knife and die-cast packages as being prisons. Stationery packaging, not so much. And the Mitsubishi pencil is way cool! :tu:

I should do the same, but mine is a Brita pitcher. Yours appears to be the sort that is plumbed in.

Great work, y'awl!
