Day 25

Wenger went to Walmart.  I took a photo of the Ford section of the Walmart parking lot.  All Fords are required to park in their segregated area.  This might have been the Mustang area?  I'm not too clear on details.  The Ford pickup might be okay parked there.  Might get towed.
You can see in the background the brick side of Shoe Show.  I don't see how they pay their electric bill.  Past that on the other side of the drive is a white building.  The new Jersey Mike's.  Been finished for months.  Never opened.  There was supposed to be another business in half of it.  Likewise aborted.  Little Caesar's pizza closed just down from Shoe Show. So did several others.  Vape shop is gone.  Sally's cosmetics is there.  Great Clips hair salon is history.  Hellcat tattoos is still open, I think.  Why would someone want a tattoo of a WW2 carrier-based fighter plane anyway?  Well, people are weird.  Best wishes.  G

Another brief post for me. Gary, I'll get back to you on the Gas Station MRE thing soon. And I like that "Bricknose" Ford truck! :tu:

Day 25

These drink mixes lack tear notches, and don't tear worth a smurf anyway. A blade probably isn't the best tool for that job. Evolution 23 scissors to the rescue!

Looks like a doable job with a brass brush.

Day 25

We have these little trim bits all over the house, and the screws are working their way out. I can't get them all the way back in (probably need to pull the whole strip and redo it), but they're a little better at least.

Day 25

Took the Wenger 779 out for a spin today.  I'm still not very adept with that dog leg can opener but I'm working on it.

Cut some more serranos off the plant.

Finally cut up an old shoe lace so I could make a lanyard for a padlock key.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Day 26

Raining hard outside.  Has been since yesterday.  All this is supposedly not part of the hurricane that is coming.  It is just softening up the ground nicely so the predicted 20 inches of rain from the hurricane won't have anywhere to soak in.  Not that 20 inches of rain soaks in.
The problem is mudslides and trees falling.  A mudslide isn't what most people think.  Imagine the side of a mountain coming down.  Soil, trees, rocks, the whole thing slumps and moves down like an avalanche.  Maybe IMR can miss out on that joyful thing.  Downed trees could definitely block my road so I can't get out.  Except on foot at some point.  The Cullasaja River will block the secondary road by my house anyway.  Flood waters won't reach the house.  I think.
Power will be off almost certainly.  Maybe I can post some of my foolishness.  Maybe not.  I have a Coleman stove and some canned food.  Assuming the house is still standing.  I have no intention of going anywhere else.
I will see how things turn out.  It is an empty house now except for me.  Nobody left for me to worry about.  That's all to the good.  Lots of MTO members in the path of this thing.  Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, upstate SC, western NC with families and pets and things.  How about a photo of a Wenger?  Best wishes.  Gary (IMR)

Day 26

The Watch Case Opener hasn't been seen yet. It's shown with my daily watch. Yes, I know its case back is held on with Phillips screws, but it's my regular watch (and has awlready been shipped with used engine oil).

Day 26

Soccer game night for grandson, normal game time for Reserve squad is 5:30pm, but, tonight varsity played first!

So then his game started at 7ish, and it was starting to get dark and captured this

And, then when walking back to the car afterwards (we won 2-0), my jeans started drooping below my hips quickly. Stopped, returned to proper height and cinched  the belt to next belt hole.  Problem, was last hole, realized this was a different belt than normal.

So when I arrived home the awl on the EVO10 went to work. It completed the pilot whole, and a tool with a harty awl finished.

Day 27

Rain.  Lots.  No wind yet.  The electricity is still working, so it seemed a good time to make a post and check the weather news.
I used the screwdriver to pry off the dripper cap of my oil bottle.  I don't buy household oil anymore.  I salvage empty synthetic oil cans at the gas station trash bin.  I only take the synthetic oil type.  Every 'empty' can has some oil in the bottom.  I drain it into an old Rem-Oil bottle at home. The synthetic oil clings, lubricates well, and doesn't smell.  And is free.  I just need a drop occasionally.
Weather news sounds ominous.  I will have to wait and see what happens here.  Best wishes.  G

Though I'm hurrying to post while still on lunch break, I will say I hope Mrs. Roberts is well, that Gary stays relatively dry, and y'awl are doing a fantastic job! :2tu:

Day 27

I thought there would be no cap lifter usage...but Dollar General has Coca-Cola products in proper glass bottles! :woohoo:

Day 27

This afternoon late high winds in the 30+ mph hit my area  from the SEnwith spalltering of rain, then an hour later heavy rains.
Wind and rain yet at 10:30. We never have southeastern winds.

Had a snack. EVO10 helped.
