While in Toronto earlier this week I had some time to sit and watch TV, and amusingly enough, ESPN 8, aka The Ocho, was showing some axe and knife throwing events. Naturally I watched them and really enjoyed the show.
But what was even cooler was the channel it was on- the Ocho.
For those who don't know, or don't recall, in the Vince Vaughan movie called Dodgeball, the games were broadcast on ESPN 8, the Ocho. It was a channel dedicated to lesser known sports, a category that axe and knife throwing definitely falls into as well.
But here's the cool part- ESPN 8 didn't exist at the time.
In fact, ESPN was just debuting ESPN 2, known as The Deuce so they could cover some non-mainstream sports. The Ocho was, at the time, a fictional station and a spoof of The Deuce.
And now, years later, The Ocho actually exists, and is showing lesser known sports just like in the movie!
I think that is very cool and I wanted to share it with all of you!
