I bought a used Ford Explorer

I know, I know, who cares right?

This is a Swiss Army Knife forum, not an SUV forum, but I feel like this Explorer fits right in here.   :D

And for those of you that think Ford is an acronym for Found On Road Dead, Fold Over, Read Directions, or Fix Or Repair Daily, don't worry, because I also got a Mechanic to go with it!   :D

This is a post for the post hall of fame. Well done,  I love it.  Now remove those ford scales and put something else on it.

I miss my Explorer. A bit of trivia: Ford first used that name as a trim package for F-Series trucks.

Super cool!    I have a friend who just retired and he's a major F-150 fan.  So I gave him a vintage Vx Bantam with Ford inlay as a retirement gift.  Love the Ford blue scales and inlay!

Indeed!

This is the only pre-91 Explorer I'd ever buy, at least around here due to rust! Issues.

Good eye, catching the lack of hook.  Not pictured is the old style maroon box it came in, which is also a good indicator of how old it is.   :D

Some time ago I saw a Ford af-150 a Explorer Ranger and thought it must have been such an awesome truck that nowadays we need three trucks to do the same job!

I have pictures of it somewhere....

Are you referring to Grant's porn style mustache, or his SAK?

I'd be interested in seeing them. I can't recall ever having seen a truck with Explorer and Ranger badges.

Looks great!  I've seen a Chrysler one (either a Mechanic or a Deluxe Tinker--all I remember is that it had pliers) that I've been meaning on putting in my Dodge.

It’s funny but I rarely see the big manufacturers spending money on big name tools, likely because they buy so many the price would be astronomical.

I have a Chevrolet branded multitool somewhere that has a plastic cover on the handles and is absolutely dreadful.

I’m guessing that this Explorer was a reward for a service department or something and not meant for public distribution.  Someone was probably very proud of this knife at some point, which is why it’s still bnib.

Nice knife, I always liked the Explorer.

I also used to have a 1995 Explorer, set up in what I thought was the perfect way: XL 5 speed manual  4WD with roll up windows. I wish the world still had more simple rigs like that, and especially more manuals.

Nice truck!
Would be perfect if it's a manual.

Man, I'm gettin' old, I just heard myself goin' like my father: " they just don't build like they used to; those were the days of quality and pride".

My Explorer awlso had a 5-speed. It was 2WD, which is a good thing...I detest electrically shifted transfer cases. We do indeed need more simple rigs and more manual transmissions!
