Cars and trucks
on: October 02, 2024, 04:00:23 PM
Hey guys, I think we need a section here for cars and trucks but didn't see anywhere for that so, Does anybody on here have any classics? Does anybody Frequent car shows, or anything like that?

The closest I have to a classic is my 2000 Jeep Tj that I am going to restore someday....

I would absolutely love to have a classic truck of some kind- I love classic cars too, but I have always been more of a truck guy, and I'd probably be dead within a week of getting some classic muscle.  Even worse, the car might not survive either.

I used to handle all of the cars coming and going between Canada and Europe and I have seen some spectacular rides in my time.  I have a few listed on my business page:

https://lamontagnesurvey.com/specialities/

While I appreciate cars frm the days when they had form and were an art, I don't think I'd ever want to own one.  They are too pretty for the likes of me.  Megan's father had a classic 1969 Mustang Shelby that was all original.  he lived in abject terror that something would happen to it- you can't replace 50 year old paint.

There are some good ones on that page!

You can't beat a good Jeep.

I can and do beat my Jeep daily.

And it keeps coming back for more.

I actually have two- a 2000 Jeep TJ and a 2013 JKU.  I drove the JKU off the dealer lot with 4 kilometers on the odometer (ordered it from the factory) and now it's over 300,000 kms and still going strong.  But, since it's a Jeep, the seatbelt sensor does t work, the check engine light and airbag lights are always on, the drivers side heated seat somes on when it feels like it, the factory Garmin Nav system hasn't worked in years.... You get the picture.

Its the most reliable drivetrain ever produced, coupled to the cheapest, crappiest sensors and electronics they could find.

I owned this sweet, 1969 Chevy CST-10 ("Chevy Sport Truck") for a few years.  I was happy to own it, and happy to sell it.  Its the circle of life.

Long live the GMT400's

I've has three of them.  A 90 (91?) Single cab, short bed, 305 engine with 3 speed manual trans transmission, manual transfer case, manual windows, bench seat...
And two full size, 2 door Blazers (picture the 1st Gen Tahoe but in 2 door).

Loved them all, wish I still had them all.  Here is my 90, complete with black crossbow and masking tape holding the driver's side view mirror on

:like: As far as I'm concerned, the GMT 400 was the last great truck GM made.

Summertime is coming up and so are the classic cars here in Sweden, this is mine. A plymouth barracuda 1965 that we bought in May last year. Didn't need much work and runs really nice

beautiful Barracuda! really shows why Hemi under glass became a thing...

my dream would be to eventually own an early 70s Cuda...

That's a dream car but unfortunately way out of my price range for the moment. Same with an impala -59 what a dream that would be!

You'll need deep pockets for that. Even junker base Barracudas from that era can go for silly prices.

Still looks good and might become a classic! Audi dose have some really good classic cars

Same around here! Last summer at a local classic car meet there was one parked almost next to me 🤤

I think the guys from Graveyard Carz have pretty much bought up all that they can find, cornering the market for early 70s Mopars, especially cudas. They build some great restorations, but my pockets won't ever be deep enough for anything they have to offer.

I would probably also go restomod over full original, I'm not as concerned with it being factory correct as much as I love the look, and am now very used to modern enhancements.

The Audi is now 7 years old (how did that happen?) and just rolled over 100k km on this current road trip. I'm in no hurry to get rid of it, and enjoying driving it. My only issue is I'm getting older and it's a low car. That being said, hybrid or electric may eventually be in the cards, and I don't have anywhere to store it if I did keep it. The plan for now is to keep enjoying the Audi, hopefully for many years to come.

Same with me. I find low-slung vehicles very unpleasant to ingress and egress these days, as I have crap knees and a lanky frame. That comment made me realize that's one reason SUVs may well dominate the American vehicle market.
