Skinny recharge
on: January 05, 2025, 11:00:24 AM
This mod has been done several times before, but here is my attempt of it. I have picture, how I have done the grinding. I grinded the inch ruler off and lockbars from same sides.   [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Here a close shot from th lock bar.

The plier head swap wasn't a straight fit. Rebar pliers caused a pe blade to Jam. It did't open even when pliers were closed. I had to grind the lock spring just a little bit. Now it works fine.

Thanks. I'm very happy about the tool set. The vic scissors I bought from Antti Lammi. So it was just a tool swap for me.

That's a great mod!  Vic scissors are the best.  I'll definitely add to Antti's praises.  He sent me a Rebar saw and a PST file for a job I have going on.  Nice work Krista!

Krista, what tool did you use to loosen/tighten the retaining bolts for the tools?  If it was a socket, what size?  I'm looking to mod my Bond, but I don't have a socket small enough.  7mm is the smallest I currently have .

Thanks for both Barry and Farmer X.

I don't have any specialiced tools (yet) for the Job. I used my knipex pliers: cobra xs and twingrip 200. Charge was easy to take apart. Rebar seems to cause me more problems since it's tail bolts are recessed.

And as you can see surge's bolts were a perfect match for the head. So I avoided the shortening of these bolts.  I'm not sure yet, if this tool is a keeper. If it is, I may find surge's bolts for the tail end as well.

Thanks. I had fun doing it.

Do you think this would qualify for advanced modder badge or should there be more detailed step by step instructions? Or is this too simple for advanced modder and more like hack?

I'd say it does qualify and therefore, badge awarded  :salute:

Friends Huntsman and Antti both suggested you had enough 111mm to get your Level 1 collector's badge for them.  If you get a Level 1 badge now, you can still get the higher-level badges if you expand your collection.  Why not get badge number 3?  Best wishes.  G
