Day 4

Swiss+Tech at the laundromat.  Tools on the little implement are pliers, small pair of shears/wire stripper, phillips and slot screwdriver bits, scale graduations on drivers for measuring things.  That is all.  Not much need when you are washing clothes for these kinds of things.
Rain and a big cooldown here.  I covered up the bulbs that had been dug up by the varmints.  Naturally, they saw where the ground had been disturbed and their critter craniums interpreted that as, ' Somebody has been moving dirt.  Must be something yummy buried under all that.'  So they dug it all up again.
I put out some leftover mixed vegetables from a can.  Mostly diced carrots.  Nope.  They won't eat carrots or almost any green vegetable.  They had rather dig up daffodil bulbs.  Come to think of it, the bulb digging could have been in retaliation to the carrot snack.  How dare you offer us these orange things, we'll dig up your flowers again.  Take that.
Best wishes.  G

Day 3

I tried out Gary's rubber band suggestion and it works like a charm.  Crazy thing is, I didn't remember to try this until this afternoon.  Yet, I don't recall it opening in my pocket yesterday or this morning.

Day 4: Pulled some hooks and inserts from a wall here at the house.  This is where the Dime and other keychain tools come in handy.  I didn't need anything bigger to get the job done, and I had them on me.

A bandit's mask fits in perfectly with a raccoon's personality, Barry.  These things wander all over the place all night long, evidently.  Probably hit the houses that leave out cat food.  Perfectly happy to beat up any cat that hasn't learned better than to give way.  After their mugging and scavenging, maybe before, they make their first visit to my place.  Go to the little spring and roll around the rocks looking for something to eat.  Wander through the mowed spaces and dig a little here and there.  Eat some insects.  See if the person who lives in the white house (me) has left any tribute.  Climb up on the back porch.  Go around front.  Climb up on the front porch.  Leave in a belligerent mood if I only left out something like carrots and go to the neighbors.  Later in the morning they come back and look over the tribute spot to see if I happened to toss out something late.  Go to their hideout about 5AM.  Growl at their spouses.

Another Gerber keychain tool.
Gerber Mini Suspension.  It's more robust than the Dime.  It lacks the package opener and has probably the worst nail fille I've ever seen.

Day 4

I am trying very hard to allow my keychain tool to be my goto tool.  Trying is a key word…

Today preparing a report, and needed a few page markers. Light blue looks good, and paper was within reach.

My LM PS is bladeless, but has scissors, small scissors to provide a reasonable description.

First, a disclaimer, I am typical LEFT HANDED, do scissors and I normally do not function well together.

So I tried!
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Not great, but functional.  Yet, I normally just use a knife blade, and trace the blade over imaginary lines, a neat score is accomplished and a clean separation results

So, I tried with the scissors.   It scored the paper, not cleaning, but enough to allow a tear.   A sample is the curvy pattern.

A attempt 😜
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

I must agree with Gary’s observations of his nocturnal critter behavior!

I grew up rural, slept many a hot night under the stairs and was frequently disturbed by the curious.

Yet, the most recent 50 + years I have lived in a suburban setting as I do today.

Sunday morning I awoke to a clattering,  crows a squawking, critters snarling and some audible scraping and hissing. All this at about 5:15 AM at sun rise.

From my back window of my bedroom I see the ugliest cat, big fat yellow thing.  It was mixing it up with a Possum mama with couple youngin hanging on to her back.
The result was they both were hissing, the cat was screeching and then ran off.  The Possum took inventory of the little ones and scampered into my neighbors cedar bush as she normal does.

My quess is the cat was hungry and saw an easy meal of one or two baby possum.

Later while enjoying my coffee, inspected the area of the tussle, some cat hair, lotsa blood. My quess feline type and a partial ear, yellow orange fur. I

I know my neighbors have not a clue, what really occurs after dark in their yards.

But, little fury bandits, eye glowing long rat tail possums, scrounging cats and occasionally a coyote will patrol, looking for food or water and even some fresh meat.

During the day, birds of prey visit for a snack as I entertain a wide assortment of feather friends at my feeders. It is important for awl to remain aware.

Red Tails swoop in from the west, startle moring doves into the back of the house.
Cooper Hawk just sweeps in like a fighter jet, grabs a sparrow off a feeder, and occasional a Peregrine falcon, will patiently sit on my roof peak or gutters, and then streaks done on a Robin hopping around searching for worms.

The circle of life, and I seem to have a front row seat on the back porch.

DoNOT get me started on squirrels… or chipmunks

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

I'm a lefty too, Gordon.  The Vic scissors were the reason I started carrying a SAK because function left handed scissors were impossible to find back then.  I know what you're saying with using the keychain tool as the primary tool!  It's definitely taking some getting used to.

The scoring method with blade is often my preferred as well.  The Style scissors aren’t too bade but definitely not SAK scissors.

Fellow lefty here as well.  Left-handed scissors make a bigger difference than I expected.

Pretty cool.  Looks like it could be handy.   I saw a hammer one for the Style on Etsy but thought that would be useless on such a small.

Day 4

Used the blade for to cut open bags of pea gravel today. I am putting in a brick boarder and using the pea gravel as a ground cover between the shed and fence in the back yard. With the pea gravel down, it will keep mud from splashing up on the siding of the shed.

The hammer head ones only work for the skeletool, unfortunately cannot get hold of the metal versions here in the UK

Day 4

Used some shockcord to make an adjustable attachment strap for a knife sheath.  The scissors on the Squirt did ok cutting, but for the Dime side had to use the blade.

Later the Dime package opener opened up a box with a new tool.

Grabbed the Squirt P4, Style PS, and Swiss Tech USA Micro Tool.

Untangled string trimmer.

These EGO trimmers are weird in that they have automatic wind., Also, you CANNOT pop the spool out to fix the string like on most (corded and cordless) as a result.

Day 3, part 2.

Small tools are MUCH easier to carry, thus I'm able to keep better track of using 'em.  I can carry the Squirt in my shorts all day and not notice it.

Cut the bent end off filament with the Squirt P4, and later the Swiss Tech--as the Squirt and my phone were on the work table, not the folding workbench where my printer is set up.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Found a file for a belt holster for the Squirt P4, but the version I printed was for a narrower belt than my old farm store "Made in Mexico" belt, so I'll have to do another. May do internal supports to make the insides of the belt loop and sheath cleaner.

Holds decently, but I think I'm gonna do the wide belt slot version in TPU.

I believe the Mini Suspension is the same as the Clutch, which I carried for most of undergrad and some time after. Great little tool. I liked mine more than the Dime I eventually replaced it with. Can confirm the nail file isn't great (the cleaner is solid). I forget what happened to it. Probably just abused the little thing too much. That was before I got into full size multis, so I definitely asked it to punch above its weight sometimes.

Day 4

Barry has it right. This is the kind of thing I missed last month carrying only knives last month. See a loose screw? Fix a loose screw. Done and dusted.

What is that green tool?
It's a multi tool made by United Cutlery for The Fast and Furious Movie Franchise.  It' definitely not worth the money this seller is asking for.  There was another one on FleaBay that was going for about $15.  That's more reasonable in my opinion.

Day 4

Package and mail duty today.  It was also a quick reminder that I need to give the little blade some TLC as it ripped through the envelopes more than slice through them.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Day 5

Swiss+Tech made it down to the Dollar Tree.  Back when I carried this same plier thing for 15 days, I went out of my way to tighten something or whatever.  Just so I could say I used it for stuff.  So far, nothing has arisen that would legitimately allow the usage of this thing.  I carry it and check now and then to see I haven't lost it.
Best wishes.  G
