Sherry it's great to see you here!!

Thanks JonesE.  We're getting there.  It's just an adjustment for all of us here.  We still have Art, her big brother (literally).  We've been keeping him busy! Thanks for asking!  I love that knife  :tu: :tu:

The package opener on the Dime is definitely a cutter.

Day 2

Used the scissors to cut the tags off a pair of Crocs. My old ones got sent to live at the camper.

I like that the scissors just swing out instead of needing to double fold like some. Performance seems fine, will test more through the month.

Thanks.

I thought about you and what you are going through today when I found out a friend’s dog is sick.  Glad you still have Art although I imagine it is hard on him as well.

Needless to say I snuggled Fisher extra.

I’ve never tried them but am often surprised by how popular Crocs are.

Day 2

Wife made an outstanding dinner of pico gallo and chili.  The LM Squirt made a minor contribution.  I thought I would include  a picture of the finished product (well, what was left of the pico after eating).

Thanks for the idea Gary.  I'll give that a go.  It'll mean that I'll have an extra tool on hand.  :tu:

Used the pliers to pull out the laser module on this Wenger Laser.  Anyone know if replacements can be had anywhere?

Day 3

Off to a great start awl, seeing a few keychain tools I’ve not seen before

Although I know there’s those that love it and those that don’t, I’ve always been very fond of the Dime.

Best bottle opener on a mini tool imo and the package opener works well too. Think the pliers are more like big tweezers at this size so treat them as such. Will definitely be carrying mine a few times this month

Dime and LM Style PS checking the weather….they don’t like it much :D

Day 3

I took along my little Swiss+Tech and got a good photo of a squalus swimming around.  It was a squalus larger than the ordinary squalus found in these waters.
It might be a Carcharodon Carcharius, possibly a Carcharodon Longimanus, or an Isurus Glaucus, but definitely a man-eater.  I didn't notify the Coast Guard.  I learned everything I know about these things from Matt Hooper of the Oceanographic Institute.
The smaller fish swimming with the shark don't seem frightened.  Now that I think of it, they don't seem very smart either.
Best wishes.  G

Nothing planned today except a trip to the hardware store.  The little Dime is ready in case something comes up.

DAY 3:  I cut some soft wire.  While I wouldn't want to hang a ceiling fan with the PS4, I probably could.

Day 3: Finally put the screwdriver to work, tightening a latch.  The Dime is solid, with no flex on tasks like this.  The file top is a good Philips in a pinch!

We're looking great everyone!  I'm looking for a great Mini Challenge so please let me know!

DAY 3

Bought chickens today, as a fox killed two of the pet ducks on Thursday night....only one duck left on her own, so had to get her company...

Stopped in a pub for a coffee on the way back and played an old table hoop game

Day 3

Taking advantage of cooler temps to get as much gardening done as possible before this Falls rain sets in. Found a Robin nest this morning while pruning a Rhododendron.

Day 2 Bonus

Used the package opener to cut open the vacuum bags and the free sausage for grilling. Worked great with no issues. But forgot to try the scissors.

Day 3

Quiet day so far.   I thought I would share a closer look at the SEFFIELD small plier tool.

Side by side with a LM MICRA
Strong back spring to deploy the pliers. Individual implements clump center tool, otherwise easy to access.

Pliers are small needle style with nice grip for the size.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

I tried out Gary's rubber band suggestion and it works like a charm.  Crazy thing is, I didn't remember to try this until this afternoon.  Yet, I don't recall it opening in my pocket yesterday or this morning.

People tend to underestimate what small keychain tools can do.  If used hard they may not last as long, but in a time of need they can frequently get the job done.

I agree with you on the scissors and the keychain tools. The pliers on the Dime have come in handy for a lot of things that were probably too big for it, but I had them on me.  Most of the time, mine tidein my Camelback on a D ring.  They're light enough that I don't mind having them along on my outdoors treks.

Sherry, it's interesting to see how the pendulum has swung on them. I remember when I got my first pair in the aughts they were considered barely acceptable as a pool shoe. I think the girl I was dating at the time threatened to break up with me if I ever wore them out. Now you see people with them in public all the time, you can buy decorations for them, etc. They're neither particularly pretty, nor terribly comfortable, but they are basically indestructible, and easy to slip on and off. Good for a shower shoe, to run and get the mail, etc.

gra_farmer: It's  NexTool mini flagship.

Day 3

Used the can opener as a package opener. I'm not terribly optimistic about it opening any cans, but we haven't gotten there yet.

The Dime package opener was used to trim some weedeater string.  It actually cut it easier than I expected.
