Phosphorescent Yellow

Diving into the rabbit hole of past purchases and remembering a SAK I bought my then girlfriend (now wife) around 2008 ish.

From memory it was a Huntsman (nothing strange there) but it had phosphorescent yellow scales, much like the current Rescue Tool.



Thing is I can't find any reference to this being available either then or now, and there is no mention of this colour in the SAKWiki colour page.

So am I just missing something or can anyone help me with some history about scales this colour?

These scales are glow-in-the-dark nylon, commonly referred to as Stayglow.

AFAIK, they only came from the factory on three different models:  RescueTool, Climber, and Classic, though scale swaps to other models were/are common.  You will find it referenced in SAKwiki on the RescueTool and Climber model pages.

Here are a Climber and Rambler with Stayglow scales…

Thanks Nate, It may have been a Climber I bought her now I think of it. It definitely had the scissors but may not have had the saw.
Sadly it's lost now so unless it turns up I can't check.

Nate is correct. I hope the SAK turns up soon! And I will get to doing a Stayglow scale swap... eventually.

Participate in a Challenge thread, carry at least one green edc item, and post a photo every day for 30 consecutive days. Participate in a Challenge thread, carry a Victorinox Hiker, and post a photo every day for 30 consecutive days. Must start a thread with a photo of at least five (5) of your watches Build your own version of an MRE using off-the-shelf components, post a photo of the completed MRE and store at room temperature for 6 days or more. Consume the MRE after the storage period and post pictures and descriptions of the contents. Take part in the christmas pool or a rak type giveaway. Those wanting to say thank you for a rak may also nominate for the santa. Participate in a Challenge and post a photo of a Utility Knife for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate  in a Challenge thread and post a photo of a LM Pocket Survival Tool for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread and post a photo of the multitool for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread and post a photo of the pen for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread with photos of your zip ties in use
