Hi Everyone,

I have recently started carrying a knife again as an EDC item because since 2001 I did a lot of weekly travel via the airlines and after losing a few leatherman multitools and pocket knives at the TSA checkpoints I stopped carrying bladed tools of any kind in my pockets or in my computer bags.

In the last year or so I been able to daily carry a bladed tool since I am not traveling anymore and I don’t have to worry about forgetting I had it and having to give it over the TSA or miss my flight.

In the last several months I have started collecting and carrying Swiss Army knives everyday and this lend me down the rabbit hole of what is perfect SAK to EDC.  So I a currently at  40+ different SAKs and I am about to build out my first custom SAK build.

It’s been a lot of fun learning about the long history of Victorinox and Wenger as companies and even more funny learning about all the different models that have come and gone or changed over the years.  During my research is when I found out about these forum so here I am.

Glad to have you, and I am quite certain you will not find a better place for SAK knowledge and mod info than this place.

Here's a bit of history that I'll bet many folks here don't know:

About 20-25 years ago I moderated a subforum at Knifeforums.com called The Secret Order of eth Swiss Army Knife.  In that group was a gent who went by the name Spork, and he was a true pioneer in the SAK modding world.  While most of us believed that SAKs were assembled by magical dwarves deep in the mines below Ibach, Spork was cutting them apart and putting them back together in different forms.

A few others started experimenting with the idea as well, and soon we had a vibrant modding community.

When I left Knifeforums and started Multitool.org, those modders came with me and set up shop here, in what eventually became the Swiss Army Knights.

There may be SAK modders out there that aren't members here or get their start with us, but I can't imagine there are too many.  The guys here started it and provided all of the info on the forum so others could do it as well.

I feel confident in saying that there is no organization anywhere in the world that has more collective knowledge about SAKs and mods than this one.

Glad to have you aboard!
