You can see how thick the handle slabs are, and that they aren't even the full length of the knife.  It's comfortable enough in use, but seems really awkward.  My hands aren't really sure what to make of it, and I'm not sure the rest of me is any better off.

All in all I really like them- especially the large one!

Those serrations are something else; they certainly look effective  :tu:

How do the Micarta scales feel in the hand?

@ Mr. W How have the scales faired after a year of hard work?

Whoa!  The folding Razel has a new blade profile! That's amazing!  Does it still come with the straight edge as well?

@ cerbera:

The Micarta handles on the full size look like new.  Not only that, but they clean up easily when dirty.

The antler handles on the stubby are holding up as well, but it sees pretty light duty compared to the full sized Razel.

Hmmm I have mixed thoughts on David's Razel experience.

The Razel, although chisel shaped, is not a chisel, it's a knife.  It may have a chisel type edge, but the bottom line is that this is still a folding knife.  Should it have stood up better to David's task?  Probably, but palm hitting any folding knife into a surface and you are taking a risk.

Exactly - it's still a folding knife. I'd hate to see the damage to your fingers if the lock fails when you're hammering it and using it like a chisel. That being said, I do own the fixed blade ringed and stubby CRKT versions. Those can take a HAMMERING! The stubby even has an extended flattened tang for hammering. In fact, I loved the fixed blade stubby so much, I shelled out the big bucks for a Graham custom:

This, with my juice KF4, has been my EDC. All my bases are covered!

I like the Razels for the same reason I like the MAK-1.  The factory is expecting a lot of broken knfe tips, so they go the extra mile by breaking them off before the customer gets them.  Not a lot of companies are willing to provide that level of service!  :D

I love my MAK-1 as a gardening knife.  Hit a rock? No problem, pry it out.  Root in the way? Chisel tip to the rescue.  Planting seedlings? No problem, poke it in the ground and pull the soil back. :)

Found a grub? Cut to bits.  >:D

I was installing a new security-system keypad on my front door. While removing the old one, the tip of a screw broke off, leaving the panel stuck to the door. Well, the Razel was able to pry that thing off, no problem. It even scraped off the adhesive too. Try that with a conventionally shaped knife without breaking the tip!

On a side note: I would like to try out one of the folding stubbys, but that handle thickness seems very awkward in the pocket. I guess I could grind it down, or remove it all together.

I saw that also.  I always liked the looks of the original stubbies but never picked one up.

I gave mine to my father.  He keeps it in the glove compartment of his SUV and loves it.

I don't want to say I regret giving it to him but I certainly wished I'd had another one for myself.

Now is my chance!
